Got that 6 month itch again!!....
.... and not in my trousers!! I've looking through pistonheads / ebay / autotrader at other cars. I love my audi S5 but finding the fuel cost pretty bad, it's a tight squeeze to get it in the garage, plus it needs a major service in about 3000 miles, new tyres and brakes soon etc so tempted to out it soon before splashing out on it.
Need some inspiration in what to replace it with!! I want something either the same size or preferably a bit smaller than a 4 seater (2+2 or just 2 maybe), a bit of poke but hasnt got to be a rocket ship, I don't want anything too old (no older than say 8 years old and want something reliable! I don't do trackdays or silly high mileage and would prefer it to be petrol and not diesel. A few of my mates are into the whole veedub scene, lowered on stanced wheels etc, something I'd quite like to try for a bit so perhaps VW/Audi?! Ideally not a BMW. Budget between 10k-15k, ideally nearer 10k!! Edited to add I also like my creature comforts so things like heated seats etc are a must!!

Harris - I don't do that many miles but getting on a bit now and currently in process of sorting another house out etc (moneys going to other things other than cars). I just get a little annoyed having to keep putting fuel in the blimmin thing, I do pretty short journeys when I do drive (circa 10/15 miles at a time) so get no real benefit from it (apart from the Milltek!!). Its about £80 to fill up and on average I get around 17/18mpg, on a long 200 mile run I averaged 23mpg normal driving.
S3an - theres got to be something out there....

You go through cars quicker than anyone I know! lol Don't you dread selling them? I'd be tempted to chop and change cars more often but I hate selling a car, always stressful dealing with time wasting twats.
Anyway, thought about a Porsche 911?

I'm in the exact same position.....
Trouble is I have absolutely no idea what I want next and tbh don't really know why I've put my CSL up for sale as it ticks every box I want in a car and some lol...

2+2, why not a mk2 focus RS, plenty of fun and your not gonna lose a fortune when you get itchy in another 6 months. Should fit in garage. Maybe slightly above budget but worth it.

That's a good call actually. Except they are quite expensive but you won't loose anything and so nice to drive.

XRT_si - I know mate can't help it!!!! Dont really mind selling, keeping them for around 6 months at a time means I don't really lose a massive amount of money if I buy at the right price. I've spent a bit on this one (Milltek etc) but its not reallly an issue. For that money it would be an older porsche I imagine, although did look at the Cayman's but maybe a bit 'too small'.
RS Grant - not too keen on the newer BMWs, the ones i've had have been horrible recently! (335i and E90 325i)
Kam - too big mate plus it would be worse to run that this one!
Steve - nice situation to be in but horrible at the same time!! I'm taking my friends TTS out for a spin this aftenroon so will see how that fairs up, about the same age as mine but the 2.0 turbo should be better than the V8!
S3an - not a fan of the Mk2 Focus RS, a friend has one and personally not a nice drive, seems like you are forever changing gear, holding on etc.
Warren - £25 a time bud so not too bad!!

Well i've just tried a TTS, very nice, felt as quick if not a little bit quicker than my S5 (could be that its lighter), pretty cramped inside though although i'm only a short arse.
CLK55 would be worth looking at, even a SL55 they seem cheap and I loved my SL500 (although servicing wouldnt be cheap).
Rick - With the 335i I found is VERY bumpy (things like that never really bother me but this was awful). It had the 19's with the dreaded factory runflats which probably didnt help. It felt very high and upright in the cabin, the auto box was horrendously slow at changing gear, had quite a few niggly probs with it, the tyre pressure sensors kept telling me check tyres when they were fine, I had a hose pop off at the front, the wastegate actuators started to rattle which aren't fixable (within spending a LOT!), all of this within a month!!! Lovely looking though, the convertible roof was a work of art but there was booger all bootspace! If I were to get another one of them it will be a 325/330!

Mine had the 19's and agree the ride is awful, managed to crack a wheel at not great speed. A manual with 18's should do the trick. The seats in mine are the 8 way adjustable including side bolsters that can be set to squeeze you in, these I like a lot.

Ive been looking at the jag xf diesels lol the 3.0v6 is more economical that the 2.7 and gives 42mpg and 275bp!
13k will get you one.
Might be selling my impreza soon, but will only have 4k so looks like a 320d bmw for me lol

I have a soft spot for Alfa 159 Ti's - you'd get a fairly new 3.2 easily within budget. For me, they're the nicest looking saloon out there at the moment. Depreciation will no doubt be a cunt though.
What about the S4 of similar age to your S5?
Porsche Cayman?

XRT-Si / Rick - yes I imagine the 18's would have been a better bet but they dont look as nice! Rick - you're right the seats with all the adjustments are very comfy!
Tiff - would be nice bud, although a C63 would have to come before one of them. Just need to get the other house rented etc and i'll be able to stretch later in the year perhaps!
Glenn - ummm... lol!
xrt2wishy - I was going to buy a Jag XF before the S5, test drove a few and found them very boring to drive, I loved the way the vents twisted when started but of the 3 I looked at 2 of them were broken (only 3 of the vents turned!!!).
Bigchez - been down the boxster S route.....
Smiler - no thanks defo not a fan of the VRS', unfortunately i'm admittedly a badge snob (wish I wasnt!) so couldnt part any cash for a skoda (although they pretty much are a VW/Audi anyway!)
Mark - oddly enough I looked at an Audi S3 yesterday looked very nice, definitely on my list.... Not so much a Leon not keen on the shape.
Mk4 Rick - Not keen on Skylines, plus a bit too old for 10-15k, I love Evo's, had a 7 a few years back, very basic inside, they were stingy with creature comforts inside!
JK - I like the Alfa's as well but as you say depreciation and being able to actually sell it would be very tricky I imagine unless you literally gave it away. I've had an S4 avant!!!!!
Cheers
Chris

mk4 rick - 34 unfortunatley!!
Stu21t - love these, my Sl500 was a lovely thing so can only imagine the 55 is a step better! They are at that age now though where suspension pumps, shocks and hood failures are imminent - £108k car with servicing and maintenance to match!!
