Default Escort Van Engine work in or out ?

Hi all new to the forum but boy do i need your help.I have just aquired an escort van 1.8d.It needs a new clutch and it doesn't have any service history so the belts/pulleys and tensioners and water pump needs doing.

The question is given the work that needs completing,do we take the engine out and do the work or do we work one side then the other ?

I have no experience with the clutch or timing system on Fords so its a huge learning curve for me.I have always wanted an Escort Van but its a big project.

There is quite a bit of rust to tidy up but no holes as yet.

I also needs a pair of red back doors(the ones with glass in) a red front wing N/S if your reading this and have seen any good ones in a breakers please get in touch.

I have so many more things to do and questions to ask but the ones above are must do's

Thanks for now

to be honest the cambelts an clutches are so easy to do on these you may as well do them in situ, or one end then the other as you put it, the panels. i would have tought red would be difficult to aquire and the wing would want cutting off and welding on so you might as well paint that along with the doors when changed
