Classic ford

I was on the phone a few days before to the booking team before all this who ha went live on the net Dan , Its simply a common sense thing that most are missing as usual i.e. if booking a stand for vehicles that have all post 89 content its pointless and not in keeping with the nature of the show and may well be refused entry altogether however stands that incorporate both old and newer will be booked on merit and availability but I was assured passionford are very welcome to attend and stand placement may be on the outskirts which is perfectly acceptable to me

why not just do away with "stands" and have all pre whatever year cars in the centre and as they get newer they get placed further and further out?
but of course that would be too easy now
if i were going i'd want to put my car on the stand, not because it's a classic or in any way shape or form could be described as such, it's just easier to get into and drive off rather than treking 5 miles up the road to the car park
it's aslo easier to put stuff into the boot when you but it rather than trudging 5 miles to the car park
but as it's a classic ford show they i would probaly not expect to take my car inside and detract from the old skool cars that should take centre stage, or is this mainly to stop the focuseses taking up have the spaces?

Have to agree seeing rows of boring focus models parked like a freight terminal is boring as hell and im a frs owner too, prob why i do not show any of my rs cars with the rsoc, proper lol at the OP original post drumming up interest for a dying central show and talk about 2 faced as they have changed their rules inviting allsorts and it was only 2 years ago they crucified 1-pd in public for arranging the biggest stand of the show, no wonder he left the rsoc

so you are going to tow your old one with your new one and get around the rules that way then
there should be a simple rule, central area to have pre 85 cars so anything pre saph cossie rather than anything below an E plate, outer ring to contain 86-99 cars, so saph cossie onto the last of the mk4.5 fiesta
anything over doesn't get it
and then you have no arguements
now to the middle east to solve their problems

Therein lies the problem. There has always been a belief that people will use their common sense, and not bring too many 'moderns' along. But people have been increasingly abusing it and bringing whatever they want to the detriment of the event. Mainly because they're lazy and want to park in the middle of the show - Dojj has just demonstrated the problem! Show parking isn't there for the convenience of those who want to be able to get in their car quickly - It's for display cars so people who come to see classic Fords can see classic Fords.
The organisers hoped that they wouldn't need to set guidelines, but it's looking increasingly like there will have to be a cut-off date, where cars newer than that will not be allowed into the event. If they let one car in, everyone will think they can pile in too.
I'd call the booking team again Steve just to check what the current situation is.

don't blame me
i remember when people would book tickets with a club and then, once they'd got their pass, would squeeze onto "their mates" stand
nothing was done about it other than shouting at a keyboard
and now something IS being done about it, people are shouting at their keyboards
if i wanted to attend classic ford and didn't have a classic enough car to bring along, i'd probably bring a non ford to park in the car park, ford fair is different and, to be honest, i'm not even sure i'll have a car to bring this year so i'm not that fussed
it's the regular show goers and those who will only go to certain shows who will see a difference, either for the better or the worse

If anyone has any questions or queries they should ask the booking team, and they'll be able to point you in the right direction.

Can't see how this is going to work but hope it does as its called classic ford for a reason.
Already know of one RSOC local group that have said fuck the organisers and are going ahead and booking even though most cars are newer than 1990 so can see some aggro on the day if people get turned away (and rightly so they should tbh).
But we all know the majority of RSOC members think they are above the rules
And for the record i am in the RSOC before people thinking I'm having ago at everyone in the club

Obviously if someone tries to bend they could be turned away and not receive a refund
I've seen folk thrown out of Pod before, you can be a Member of whatever club you like you won't win. Be honest and take your place on the outer circle.
I've seen so many comments and grumbles by fuckers who don't even go

can i go?
can i go in a classic ford?
can i go in a non classic ford?
and still get onto a stand?
can i risk leaving my car in the car park?
if the answer is yes to any of them then you should go if you like the answers
but if you get 5 no's then stay the fuck at home or go with someone else as a passenger

It could work very simply -
Is your car Classic?
Yes? Then you can come in.
No? Then you can't.
It's people like them, with their selfish attitude that have caused the issue in the first place. If they do have to impose a 'no moderns' policy, which looks increasingly likely, then they WILL be turned away. All club booking secretaries need to check with the organisers BEFORE getting carried away and inviting all the cars in the club.
What puzzles me, is why people can't understand why moderns aren't welcome. You wouldn't take a VW to a Jap show, or a Beetle to a Mini show. It's no different.

Your point is valid for some shows and not others Dan depending on the set up.
Both Classic Ford and Ford Fair have a large enough target audience to implement rules but then there are Events that cannot which creates the problem.
It's not hard really is it, read the form do as you are told and everything is sweet

I'm not involved in any way with the organisation of the show so my views may not reflect the views of the organisers!

so no st225 focuses
#62
i'm pretty sure that they would draw thehardcore line at probably mk1 sierra's at the latest if they were going to enforce a "only classics" rule as you can stick a classic policy on anything over a certain age, whereas the mag's criteria is a little different

This is my guidelines for all those wanting to join passionford at this years classic ford show on june 1st at santa pod, I have run my guidelines past the the main man at the helm of all bookings and he has no objection to any of my thoughts, it appears from conversations I have held with other club/group events organisers most of the dummy spitting seems to have originated from clubs totally made up of post 1990 cars which don't have any place at a classic ford show anyway, Ford Fair is a great show and welcome to all FORDS so why these other clubs don't focus their attentions to this god only knows
Classic Ford stand Criteria
Classic Ford organisers have tightened up on the rules relating to club stands and rightly so, In passionfords case we normally have a huge varied amount of pre 1990 cars mainly cosworths which DOES qualify us for classic ford entry status with a slightly mixed content very much more in favor of classics thus allowing us a stand albeit on the outskirts of the show which is still fantastic, I am strongly discouraging all ST and late model cars from applying to attend this event in order to obtain a stand pass as these cars are simply NOT classics but the public car park is open to all, and if your classic breaks down and your only chance is to arrive is in a FRS etc then I will not turn you away but you will be placed at the rear of the stand with all older cars given priority, please remember this is a show stand not a tesco carpark and my word is final !

Even if they do break down & arrive in an frs they should still go in the public car park else its going to create one rule for them & one rule for another if you going to have rules stick by them

The West Sussex rs group always go and have a good turnout with saff cossies , 3drs and fiesta/escort rs turbos all around 88 model year. But fully understand why they doing this and a totally know why they have . Of course you're going to get backlash and things like that .
Maybe if they had all the classic ford stands the concrete side where the cafe and shop are and the grass side was where they had the newer stuff and rs groups . That would prob be better as divides new from old . Most of that space had the rally course last year but was still loads of space if was planned correctly with rally course further back to stop dust ???

To be honest I don't think we going to bother with a stand this year as 90% of are cars are around that age and the old skool cars are members of old skool ford forum so they will have a stand anyway .
Old skool is old skool
A few of us committee have said we all going to jump in our daily cars and park in main car park , so this will save us heavily on petrol
At least if it old skool it can be spread out more and actually see the cars on stands .
Everyone wants to take there cars to show them off but it's only one show if you have a new age car .

In all honesty Kris the organisers were caught napping last year and the amount of clubs and public that came were way more than they could handle, thats the good old british sunshine for you, and if this year the weather is poor it will be half empty so they wont win whatever happens, some suggestions last year was to rename it Ford Fair 2
