Default Any brake experts? running out of ideas

The car is a Nissan Micra 2005 with ABS,
the wife's car has a huge amount of brake pedal travel and im at a loss as to why, the whole system has been bled, the discs and pads are fine (mot just passed) and I have changed the master cylinder, all to no avail. the rear hubs are fine and no fluid leakage
Could a new ABS unit be the cure? Im at a loss.

All help appreciated

Andy

Change the pads first
They may look fine but could be ruined by being overheated
Have you got rear drums?
Could they be at fault?

Then there us always the flexible brake lines that may be expanding and causing the loss of pressure

Is the pedal travel there when stationary?
is the pedal travel there with the engine on and off?
Petrol or derv?

Did it just start doing it?
Are the brake pads free to move in the carrier?
Are the caliper slides free?
Are the rear brake shoes correctly adjusted?

brakes might need bleeding with a diagnostic tool to operate the abs, although every micra i've done brake fluid renewals on haven't.

May have had cheap pads fitted in past that don't seat correctly.

clamp all 4 flexi's, if the peddle is the same the problem is with either the master cylinder or the abs pump,
if it feels better then remove the flexi clamps 1 at a time, and when it goes the same way as before, your problem lies in that corner

I had similar a few years back on a citroen dispatch.

It went to ats for discs and pads, upon collection i got to the end of the road and my foot hit the floor. Luckily they adjusted the handbrake and i just about stopped from rear ending someone!

Took it back to ask if anyone tested it before giving me the keys back to which one guy piped up so i threw him the keys and told him to have another go!

Basically they ended up changing the front callipers, rear cylinders, master cylinder all while trying to bleed it numerous times.

In the end my company had to trailer it to citroen and they bled it again but it was still shit. So all they would after that was fit genuine discs and pads. Low and behold the brakes worked after that!

So what im getting at is it could be the pads if they are pattern parts
