Anyone know?

Ideally want my car rolling roaded before and after aswell as getting a handheld unit of some sort to remove the map if I need to & reload it at another time.

It's a 2008 Mondeo TDCI, a friend has a 2006 A4 TDi he's looking at doing it the same time as me, both are 2.0 140bhp models.

Cheers

Try MSD mate while I was having the saph done there, I asked James about my 320 BMW & he said they can do that & all sorts of diesels.

why would you need to remove it and reload it another time? the evolution chips dealer can do that for you anyway with their handheld unit(but may charge a bit for their time)

I have a powerflow place near me that I had remap my Fabia VRS.
After a bit of shopping about choose them.

The map is really good, no flat spots, no big boost spike or fuel spike, its really smooth and pulls happily all the way round to 5K
depends what your after really, this just feels oem, you cant really tell its been mapped, it just seems really quick.

They charged me £300 to decat and remap.
130bhp up to 165bhp and 409nm. Im really pleased with it, and surprised truthfully!

Reason for a handheld unit, if the clutch or flywheel goes funny then or shortly after then I can remove it to preserve it and give me time to get coin together to replace it.

Varied response, anyone tried Celtic tuning?

shouldn't the money for maintenance be a higher priority than money for modifications?

I put a Bluefin on my 1.8 tdci, it would start to cough and splutter at about 2500 rpm and chuck out loads of black smoke. Put the standard map back on and it's been fine ever since.

You have an underlying problem there then, or a bad map.

My 1.8TDCi was very lethargic and not that great on fuel. My usual commute would usually result in around 40-45mpg.

Since the map the car is very eager, has a shed load of torque and I haven't seen under 60mpg once since the map! On a run back and fore Nottingham I calculated 74mpg

He wasnt concerning himself with your finances lol, I think Foreign is correct though , clutches and flywheels surely are more important than a remap.

I've got a Shark map on my Fabia, stage 1 at 175bhp. It pulls really well throughout the rev range, is nice and smooth and feels like it it came this way from the factory. Wouldn't know it was a remap, it just makes the car drive brilliantly now. I've got the box to remove it but have never felt the need.

i used Awesome Gti in irlam manchester, cracking service on our bora, found some underlying little issues before doing the map, nothing that cost money though.
there was a christmas special on at the time and cost £200, at first it highlighted a worn clutch and was a bit smokey, however the smoke was due to a leaking intercooler and therefore not metering the fuel correctly.
the system used was revo maps and is like lightening compared to before, our 130spec tdi was running 170bhp afterwards and absolutely trashed my mates a4 conv 210bhp up the Mway, he could have caught up if his speed rose much more than triple figures i'm sure though.
fuel economy is a bit better, but at best i've seen 62mpg on a run, i don't exactly drive sensibly it has to be said though.

Lol'd at the brains and sense comment, if only you knew me!!

I'm just covering my ass here in the worse case scenario if owt rears it's ugly head after a remap! Last thing I want is a 1k bill for a DMF&clutch shortly after buying the car.

i didn't say that you didn't have brains or sense, just that opposite lock does

surely that cost is a risk whether you have a remap or not and therefore needs budgeting for?

Small world, I was about to put up a post asking this very question....

I have a C-Max TDCi that I’m looking to get remapped, and am looking for some real world experience from people who have actually used somewhere, not a place their ex-girlfriends uncle’s dog once drove past. Had a quote of £400 + VAT from a very well known and reputable place so using them may be money well spent, but it doesn’t hurt to ask for some real world experience.

Anyone recommend anywhere, ideally around the Middlesex / Surrey / Sussex region ?

Thanks.
