Default has anyone ever refirbed shocks?

I've recently bought a car to strip and it's littered with goodies but most have a fault
The half leather recaros have splits
The rs 4 spoke is splitting
I could go on but the shocks have hardly been used but it's been sat up and they are rusted badly
All the paint flakes off with a chunk of rust
They are top adjustable so I'd like to fit them to my other car but they look so shite
Does anyone have advice on minting them up?
I assume i can't fit the goodies into a new shock body and heat won't work well so powder coating is out

if they are koni's grab some stickers from ebay, perp them up and give them a lick of JCB yellow and they will look as good as new.

Just make sure the rams are not pitted up and are leak free
