Need a bit of advise on what is goood/bad about these looking at the IIi and IIs. Any points that i need to know about before purchasing and also where's cheapest?

Would they work with a vodafone SIM if needed?

I've heard the new camera is rubbish, but you can do a software upgrade to fix it.

I'm sure they can be unlocked as well

basically there fantastic as a pda, but u look like dom jolly when you're using the phone.

I've sold mine for this reason because i was sick of everyone taking the piss! but there is a new Xda coming called the xda mini it's also badged as an "i-mate jam" and i think t mobile do a version of it as well, Basically it is the same as the xda but alot smaller, these are coming out very shortly i believe and you can get the
i-mate now so i would think that values of the normal xda will plumett!! this is only my opinion of course

You can get the XDA II (not IIs or IIi) for £50 from O2 now albeit on a 1yr contract. The IIs isn't worth the money. I use mine (II) mostly for web browsing, irc and msn (all via GPRS) when I'm out and for listening to MP3's.

You can put WM2003SE on the II as I have done with mine, landscape mode makes web browsing soooooo much easier

looking for the wifi connect, ideally, does the II do this ?

Also would prefer vodafone as i get cheap rates and works around where i live (in the sticks !)

Got a 2s (equivelant) cool device, mates take the piss re: the size of it but they are secretly jealous

WiFi is cool, 'free' surfing

Rather have a man's phone that is basically a mobile office and wireless SatNav than a girly fashion phone that's just a phone, but then I'm a gadget geek

I've got an XDA2 as one of my work phones, it's good for computer games but fuck all else IMHO. It crashes whenever it feels like it, gets really slow and "not responding", just like Windows on any other machine I guess. Much preferred my Handspring Treo.

Oh, and O2 are the shittest mobile network in the fucking world, and their staff are twats, and everything about them sucks donkey nads.

I fucking hate O2.

Bidding on a couple on ebay now (IIs) then get a new contract with vodafone and sell the new upgrade phone to pay for this.

IIi seems better but the s has the keyboard which swings it for me pity about the camera being low res but then i have a digi cam too

The Gravedigger, incidentally, my XDA2s is the 'Orange' SPV M2000 version (they're all basically HTC Blue Angels), not had any hangups or problems - maybe the O2 software screws things up?

keyboard is about as handy as chocolate teapot from what ive been told.

ive got the 2i, and find it an excellent bit of kit.

extra 120mhz in speed as well

You've been told wrong (unless they had v.large thumbs, then fair play ) imo. Having said that, I do still tend to use the onscreen keyboard out of habit

I did "umm and ahh" over the extra processor speed of the 2i, but I can live with what I've got for now.
