Insurance companies quote as cheap as they can or someone else gets the tbusiness.
And lets be honest testosterone poisoning at that age is endemic for human males!
experience is limited too.
OK my reactions have been going down hill since 30 but, by lack of un thought through aggression and experience see me through now!
I'd be very surprised if dear old Rob in his sierra special had been "impressing" the "ladeiz" wiv it on a saturday night recently....

It always been the same unfortunately, but does get better in time.
My first car, a 1.6 MK1 Capri cost me £650 to buy in 1983 and cost £650 to insure.
In 1992, my 3dr cost me £3500 to insure (I was 29) but now, 20 years leter, the same car costs me £150!

xr3i's still have the stigma for getting nicked on them from the 80's and 90's .there not fast by todays standards ,105bhp diesel clio's are putting more than that out now.insurance is optional in new zealand maybe we should all fuck off over there, lol

i was paying £1800 a year for my xr3i in 1999 at 19 years old third party only. i now pay £250 fully comp with protected ncb on my a3 2.0tfsi quattro s line at 33 years old, so getting old has a bit of a silver lining!!

Half the reason I bought my classic mini was to restore and run it as a first car. £1650 fully comp all mods declared and that's with an adrian flux quote.
And yeah, SK5 postcodes cost a bomb! I tried a 1.9 fabia in sk5 and it was £3500 tpft for my first year

I live on a private gated close parked on a drive. Quiet area of Liverpool.
It's stupid though as mrs can insure my old ST (ran through quotes just out of interest) just passed her test for £1700. Mondeo is 3k.
Ford GT £1400, Aston Martin £1400. How does that work?
I asked why the huge jump when I changed cars, they said there are more mondeos than ST's so more likely to crash
Statistics can be manipulated any way they want though.

Unfortunately mate your age and lack of driving experience are what count against you. We've all been there, my first car was a 1.6 Ghia Mk3 Escort that cost me £500, it then cost £850 to insure it, that was nigh on 20 years ago.
Young drivers, especially male ones, have a habbit of thinking they are driving gods and end up doing something daft resulting in a clain the insurance company has to pay against.
To be brutal, for at least a couple of years forget buying anything remotely interesting, save your cash and get that all important NCB under your belt.

It high but you need it if you want to be driving round legally.
My Escort 1.3 is £1500 to insure, my Escort RS S2 is £2800, I'm only 21, driving for a year but with the 1.3 policy i used my motorcycle no claims (4 years) which made it the price it is or it would been well over £3k, also note if you ring them up the prices are normally better than the online price.

Something I've found is what type of car you havemakes a mmassive difference, my old man had a 2.9 xr4x4i that was cheaper to insure by about £500 than the 1.8 escort gti that replaced it because the xr was classed as a family car

I was 24 when I passed my test and my first cars insurance was £4500 . that was back in 1994 though and admittedly my first (legal) car was a Toyota celica so has it really got much worse in the last 20 years? £4500 was a lot of money in the early 90's, even for a 2.0 litre car.
