Melling do pumps for them
http://www.summitracing.com/int/part...87hv/overview/
That bottom end here has a burton hp pump and a vt21 large bearing cam and followers still in it. So I wouldn't be to put off if the rest of the car was ticking the right boxes.
It may only be the cost of a gasket set over an LSD if you get a non special.
Maybe I should send it and you can have a look?
Them rims will make it though

cheers mate the bottom end you have I was thinking about maybe machineing the pistons to lower the comp to about 8.5 -1 and waiting for a modded set of heads to come up fo a bit of a mad motor and gear the sprintex up for more boost.
it would be nice if I can find a decent car with a healthy motor that will take the blower as it is for a start. my other thoughts are whats the limit of power/torque for a 2.8i 5 speed box ?
the interior was to mint, I jacked it up and only 1 wheel span, so I got him to launch it down the road and it mainly only spun 1 wheel with a little chirp from the right but naff all.
the strut tops had been welded very poorly.
top end was rattly and oil pressure sat at top edge of red on idle, and when revving only went up to inbetween the first and second notch on the gauge, so not even 1/4 up the gauge ! and didn't sound healthy with my head over it tbh.
when I looked under the car he said the car was sprayed 7 years ago but the overspray everywhere underneath looked fairly fresh to me.
water temp gauge, fuel level gauge and heater all broken.
supposed to be all old mots but they were conveniently misplaced.
not a rotter by any means but just not a good enough base to do a zakspeed rep justice.
I have just found potentially a real nice one in devon, from what I can see looks to be as clean/tidy as my Datsun c210 is.
im now awaiting a reply from the seller and more pics.
it apparently also has a specialised engine 3.0 stage 2 lump in it.
heres a link anyways

Don't worry about heaters fuel gauge or water temp there broken on 90% of capri's, top end rattle is more worrying, As for type 9 about 250lb of torque is limit less with wheels you plan on running.

The blue one looks nice you can fit a T5 if you start munching up the T9s as your not going to get a lot of wheelspin with those new wheels on there.
Any more news back off the owner ?
2.9 is efi but they did a kit for them, have a look here there is both in this thread.

not a thing mate, trouble is its £4k seats are cack and from what ive been reading a specialised engines rebuild will possibly be about as good as my supra engine rebuild was
also if they've raised the cr the blower will maybe cause issues.
the 1 with 21 owners looks a good candidate and a lot better priced as its not as mint externally but has mint interior includeing the recaros like a saph has. im just waiting for some pics of engine upto temp and oil pressure shots before I venture out to dover to look at it.
in all honest it would be silly of me I think to buy a minter as im gonna rip the wings and bumpers off and literally hack the rear quarters off with a grinder and make an L bracket ledge for the rear panels to sit on.
a little rust here and there really isn't gonna matter as long as its not rot as we can weld/grinder pad it all out and dolphin glaze before painting.
if I run with the 10j rear rims they will be shod in 295/30/18 tyres
I may need to go even wider I need to get to almost the edge of the bodykit arch with the least amount of negative offset possible, well that's my plan anyways.
im defo sticking 2.8 mfi mate just not specifically special as I can get a new uprated quaife or 3j lsd for £600 anyways.
il be honest im quite excited about the supercharger as ive never owned one or worked on one before
we have had a little brain wave of maybe keeping the kit so its removable like the zakspeeds were, and to stiffen it up we are thinking about expanding spray foam in the back of the panels where it isn't visible.
if we can get the fit good enough we may be able to make the kit so its screwed on and removable. were gonna look into it anyways before we seal the kit on and start blending it.

well ive had a reply from the seller in dover.
heres a pic of water temp showing shes upto temperature
and then idle oil pressure
and 3000 rpm oil pressure
the same worrying low pressure the car I looked at yesterday had.
does anyone know where they normally run ? and how much pressure is each mark on the gauge ?

cheers for the link ive only just read through that.
shows all the specs
front rims were 16x10j
rear rims were 19x12.5j !
I can get them in same style except 18" rear 16" front and il maybe go 1" narrower with the 9j and 11.5j widths and its still only £1600
the rear tyres are gonna be huge at 315/30/18s lol
possibly go 15" on the front aswell so the jump from front to rear is still 3".

normal for idle on a healthy cologne is second mark up at idle and middle mark about 3k rpm

my thoughts exactly mate both ive checked out so far basically engines are just about done !
ive been told each mark is 10 psi so they've both got 10 psi idle and 20psi max when revving !
id rather a better engine and scabby bodywork if I can find it.
it depends what they want for it, im sure it will be a lot more than im prepared to pay as im gonna strip it and cut it about for the kit.

There's 3 2.8i's in classic ford that came out Friday. You would be surprised how many specials have been robbed of their lsd's for escorts but there are alternatives.
The oil pressure they always a bit low when up in the mileage, I'd strongly recommended rebuilding a 2.8i before supercharging or turbocharging, been there done that, dead engine!

il have to start buying classic ford again now I havnt bought it for a few years
and I agree im not looking for a special anymore just any 2.8i as I will add a diff If/when I want it if I don't get an lsd with it, theres a quaife on ebay for £600
im in no rush and il wait for the right car hopefully with an engine that at least holds 40 psi warm up the revs.
just a tad over budget

nice find theres 2 or 3 liveries I hadn't seen before there
my fav colour would be a black base colour but theres 2 issues.
if I paint it black I cant paint the base of the louvres black to make them look real and if I cut them out to look real im sure they will crack where its cut.
second issue is the decals will be an absolute nightmare whereas the jagermeister will be easy, ive already found all the stickers virtually correct from a supplier and there generic so not special made jobs. I even found the deers head and cross at 24" across
for those reasons Im 80% set on jagermeister livery orange base colour.

its a big task but im gonna have a go.
it is quite shocking the prices some people are asking for capris now, I wish I could find one like my Datsun condition for the £2400 I paid for it.
if the expensive ones are actually selling though I don't know.
I have found this one would make a good base but seems a tad overpriced to me ?
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3010012326...84.m1423.l2649
I am drawing the money out tomorrow to pay for the base car the question is how much do I limit it to ? bearing in mind the wheels and bodykit are £3k !

I think it is aswell but the seller seems a genuine guy and if it is genuinely a 55000 mile car the engine, box and lsd are going to be mint.
idle oil pressure is half way, and 1 notch above half way once revving.
which equates to 40 psi idle, 50 psi once driving hot oil.
and the car is in daily use.
there is a fair amount of rust though il just have to take a look at it I guess and value it and make my offer.

I'd say the white one isn't far off worth that price.£4k I'd say these days, good original complete solid cars so fetch good money. A mate of mine has just sold his a plate restored 2.8i for £3.5k, it's been around the clock, has been restored with non genuine panels, not very well, plenty of filler! But he had lots of interest! Gone are the days when u could buy 2.8's for £100!

its got the lsd and a healthy engine so I am prepared to pay the premium for a decent car.
the body will be getting sprayed anyway so the rust is irrelevant.
I sold my last 2.8i for £1200, I paid £500 for it back in the day the black one !
that engine should be ripe for some boost up it

that's the only bit I cant get the bonnet, but I think if I add the 3 big slotted vents and bonnet pins to the stock steel bonnet it will be close enough.
I did enquire about the bonnet but no one makes them and tbh I don't fancy a fibreglass bonnet anyways
the bit that breaks up the bonnet is the fin that sits between the bonnet and the wing, its not very proud but its there and I intend on replicating that on my car somehow....
that's whats attracting me to the car mainly is the mileage the whole driveline should be top condition.
I phoned image wheels today aswell and they do the 18" bbm rims in upto 16j lol and any offset I choose they are all made to order

That sounds good, shame u can't get a bonnet but as u say fibreglass bonnets ain't good when their that big!
I had a cci zakspeed bonnet for mine years ago but it was poor quality and looked crap with standard body.
The wheels will make it. Think that's why the zetec turbo zakspeed doesn't quite look right as the wheels don't fill the arches.

well I just got in.
very honest seller and car I managed to buy it for £4400.
the car underside is timewarp, it has been undersealed but I cant see any evidence of welding anywhere.
its the 55000 miles that sold it though the car is like new mechanically.
in the boot is all mint no brown stains anywhere, the only rust parts he has shown pics of on the ebay add very honest guy I had to have it.
everything works except heater blower fan.
I just drove home 80 miles and it used 1/4 tank of fuel.
sounds great, drives great has anti dive kit, all new springs and shocks.
it is far to mint for what im gonna to do it lol
but do it I will
oil pressure holds 35 psi minimum idle, and 50 psi as soon as I touch the throttle and the oil needs changing aswell.
engine is sweet just been checked over and set up by tickover aswell.
the lump is ripe for boost
fully stamped service book and every mot going back to 1991 to verify mileage.
I am chuffed to bits, gave it launch when I got home down my tarmac drive and left 2 fat blackys down the road, lsd is perfect
when you consider tired engine shitters are £2500, an lsd is £600 then gotta be fitted, time/missions sorting out rot, for an extra £1900 to have this its not actually that expensive really imo
couple of picks I got

I gotta get the Chrysler in the car workshop now and get the capri in the main workshop on the ramp, needs to dry up a little though im not driving none of them round the yard its a shit hole atm !
I possibly did pay over the odds but its a genuine car and you can tell for how it looks/drives.
the boot area and door shuts are virtually mint and considering its not been restored shows its had a good life.
I wonder what the genuine front wings and the wheels and new tyres are worth ?
interior is stunning, usual bolster wear but theres no holes or tears just faided bolster on the corner.
il have to start the thread soon as ive bought the car and kit is on order theres no going back now lol

it was owned by ford as a demonstrator then sold on to an elderly guy, he passed it onto his son then tom bought it of him in 2008. so im the fifth owner not bad for 27 years me thinks

awesome pics thanks.
looking at those pics abit of arch gap will be ok as long as I get the rims right out flush with the edge of the wheelarch I will still lower it though as much as possible.
I absolutely do not want any wheel spacers on it so I must get my offsets perfect before I order the rims.
