Mate, I am genuinely pissing myself... that's just not a Version 4 dashboard, it's just not possible. That's a V1-V3 dashboard?!

Haha, aye.. in spite of all that evidence, lets just agree that you have an ultra rare (possibly one-off..) V4 with the older pre-facelift dashboard fitted.

Have a nice day y'all.

Grant

Then later S registration onwards cars were V5/6 which had the two bar bumper, crystal headlights, more pronounced grill which sat over the bumper rather than tucked behind, leather gear gaiter and the Momo badge was smaller and had a lighter titanium/champagne coloured ring round Momo.

I've owned six Imprezas over the past 11 years, five of them being 98-00 Classics UK Turbos... it's rare I get to share my ultra-nerdy knowledge on them these days!!

Didnt realise you'd had uk turbos Grant.

I thought the 'versions' only applied to the sti model, but does it just apply to any classic then? What's the difference between a V5 and a V6, and which would mine be on a 99T?

Version 6 will have a passenger front airbag...

UK 99's didn't have colour coded mirrors or door handles, UK 00's did...

This is correct. A version 1 & 2 have the pre-facelift front end and early dash, a version 3 gets a new bonnet, grill & headlights and retains the same dash, a version 4 gets the later dash, version 5 and 6 get the full update with the late front bumper and that's before we start on the differences on the engine.

Your mate is more than likely talking bullshit, what turbo, ecu & injectors is he running? at 370-390bhp a 5 speed gearbox is right on it's limits and well beyond the limits of the clutch and also the standard MAF I would wager. Remapped ecu on that turbo & injectors is on it's limit at 340bhp
