Default Attention fast ford and performance ford mags

This is a question to both magazines

Is there any grudge matches or top speed run events going on next year ??

Try and get some tuners involved and get to brunters or Santa pod .
Fast ford did a event a few years back at pod with a slalom section and quarter mile thrash and miss the grudge matches in perf ford .

Anyone else any input ?

Plain and simple, it' highly unlikely to happen again.
It amazes me how often this is asked on here.

health and safety is making everything difficult with my company especially trying to repair machines on site, its easier to just pay the haulage and bring them home a lot of the time.

health and safety will no doubt be the biggest hurdle for them to arrange it.

I have been in contact with santa pod and it can be hired for the day on a weekday for a reasonable cost, I tried myself and was willing to do it but I needed I think 50 people and all to pay Ł100 each to do it and I think 4 people agreed lol, so I gave up on the idea as paying Ł4600 to run my car for the day was a bit much lol

brunters I never enquired myself rod will probably have an idea of the costs involved in that one.

I asked this same question which has ended up in organising an event myself.

The reply I had from Dan was the insurance wouldn't be willing to cover and obviously health and safety. Plus the cost is massive. It's only through research and other people's knowledge that you realise how much goes into these types of things.

Dan did mention though that they could run a day at Santa Pod again once they have the time to organise it (fight club I think it was called) which is about the only type of thrash they can do these days.

dan has mentioned it on numerous occasions that the outlay is not reflected in a boost in sales, and that's when thrashes were common place

i can't remember where he said it but he once gave us a full list of all the health and safety stuff which was quite ridiculous because it covered things like wearing a hi vis while drinking cups of tea in the cafe or something stupid like that so you can just imagine someone in a suit saying "hmm, it's going to cost me Łx and in return i'll get Ły so i shan't bother"

Brunters is a 'no go', so there will be no more top speed thrashes :-(
There are other potential venues - but the cost to hire, and the huge amount of work involved in making it all happen isn't repaid in terms of sales, so it's very unlikely that we'll be looking at running anything of that nature. We may 'piggyback' someone else's event, and are in talks with a couple of people at present.

However - We intend to hold another 'Fight Club' at Santa Pod in 2014 - which will involve a small charge for the invited attendees. It was a great day that was enjoyed by all, and if it all goes to plan we'll be doing it again.

Even if the mags were able to run Topspeed events there is little or no interest to actually take part. Ive personally tried for the past 4 years to get a team from this Forum to run at Vmax. Lots of talk of mega fast cars on here but only one Ford actually made an event . These events could be run as Vmax proves but it costs money to set it up & it dont exist in the modded Ford scene.
Scooby Slayer sums it up lots of talk but when cash is required .

Due to the nature of Fight Club it's invite only I'm afraid - We have to cap the numbers and if we open it up we end up having to disappoint a lot of people!

Why? It's a completely different event, and isn't just about who's got the most power - which is what 'thrashes' are all about. As there's a handling element to Fight Club, it opens it up to loads more cars.

What even if they are streets ahead of whats been built since. The facts are that times set 10 years ago have yet to be beaten .

It's a mixture of people we know and trust to a) turn up, b) put in a good performance, and c) not dick about! There are always wildcards who get in if they've got something lairy and/or exciting as that's what makes the feature more exciting.

If I could I'd love to open it up to all and have a day of 'Fight Club madness' - but to make it work as a magazine feature we have to limit the number of cars in attendance. It also keeps it more exciting if it's exclusive IMO.

We'll be covering the day, but it's unlikely we'll be doing trophies. We did it for years, but had less an less entries to the point where we were spending a load of cash on them, then bringing half of them back home!

Thats very kind thought Dan but my car has not run in anger for 9+ years & ive not driven it for about 3 years its from a previous era long since gone a car with no purpose when Martin stopped chasing the Topspeed record . Its what it is Dan a 25 year old Sapphire if things have not moved on the Ford scene is in real problems.
Our Ford UK overall Topspeed record was almost equalled with a 206.00mph run by the mighty Roosh Mirage GT40 we will respond to that challenge in 2014 its what my car was built for.

I except that Topspeed running is as uncool as Mike Rainbirds haircut on this forum & your catchment of would be readers is here so you must cater for what they want. But sometimes remember your mag title .

I know you can't invite any random people mate or it would just any car show like central day and would be no point in the idea of fight club also be a shit read for people buying the mag but if people don't know you's how can we enter or is it just a case of we can't.

I think it's more of a case of your car has to set a decent 1/4 mile or be a track car that puts in decent lap times or has big horse power

Tbh mate loads of people put good times in all the time and have good track cars just think it should be put to everyone.
I did a better time than half a dozen of the last club and I was on 195 prelli p6000 on low boost.

do you want to come? do you have a car capable of doing the job? if so, i think last time they sent out invites to those who fitted their criteria and it was a closed day, so no spectators

It's the Fast Ford team's job to keep tabs on all the cars suitable to make this event interesting on the day and for the magazine.

Naturally they are going to pick the car's best suited to that, which generally means cars that have proven themselves before or cars that have the credentials to do so. And as Dan says, an interesting odd ball or two thrown in.
