Default 1800 cvh (sierra)

Just wondering if anyone knows if there's anything I can do to make these engines rev a bit harder and change the power range as they provide a bit of power and torque low end but seam to die out at 4k? I know Xr heads fit and flow better but it still doesn't change anything just adds about 10bhp woohoo lol, I was thinking turbo as its an easy conversion but I these engines don't like revving

Any advice appreciated

they're designed for 'economy', but they weren't any good for that either. Best bet would be to stick a lean burn 1600 head on it along with a carb from an xr2 or even 2.0 pinto. you'd have to mess with the water system though, as the thermostat would come out of the rear of the head.

as above, 2.0 pinto conversion with 38dgas and fast road cam and decent manifold and system

otherwise you need a head from a 1.6cvh with a fast road cam as the standard cams in them dont rev the best, and valve springs, dont use any from kent or piper for a cam as they are crap, use doubles from newman if you want it too rev

wayne at wpe had my last n/a cvh making power at 8k? could be worth giving him a ring

Mmm that's interesting as I don't really like Newman cams as a friend use to work there and heard so horror stories, but each to there own,

Pinto was my first thought as you can rev the fuck out of them and they give a fair bit of power, there just rare as fuck finding a good one

Yeh it is a bag of shite really lol I was going to just throw on a Xr head with a set of bike carbs till I pick up a granada, but even that's proving to be a pain because of the box issue

The bad thing is they are the best for cvhs due to materials used, Kent and piper ones are crap, but in other models are fine

I had Kent cams in my atmo cossie and they were great, pinto is a good idea as it can be a bolt in conversion

Can get 150/160bhp pretty cheaply but after that it gets expensive

But as I said a decent single carb and fast road cam will do the job

You could even fit a 2.9i v6 for around the same money if you find a car breaking, they sell for peanuts as everyone removes them to fit 24v cossies

.

Do a search for Ferriday engineering mate, I've got one of his 1800cvh turbo engines, yes people think there rubbish, but mine has a EFi big valve head, low comp bottom end, steel rods etc and it's been amazing, mapped on a T34 to 28psi, went like stink in my old mk2 XR2, it's sat in my garage at the moment waiting for me to finish it's new home
