Default 2001 Mini one using oil

Hi guys bought my misses a Mini One from the Auctions 85k FSH etc
I gave it a full service just after I got her it and its now on 86500k and I have had to put oil in it more then once not massive amounts, maybe a litre-ish or a bit more....

My question is should they burn so much oil? I also fitted a new radiator as it was leaking but I'm still topping it up every now and then?!.....I done a sniff test and all good and it doesn't get hot at all

Should of stuck to the trouble free mk4 golf that had done 170k and she had for 8 years trouble free!

Any help appreciated

If its got a pretty good clutch you won't even notice the leak as it will soak up the oil then burn it off, drill a hole in the bell housing unless its got a squash plate between the block/box

I've seen a few mini's partial to a drop of oil.

A friend had one with the engine replaced under warranty that was guzzling oil, the replacement wasn't much better

My exes has always drunk the stuff like crazy from new, about a litre every 600 miles. She leaves it now until there is virtually nothing left in the sump. Luckily not my problem any more when she blows it up

Its only on 40,000 miles now and is over 10 years old

A workmate has had one a few years now and since after the first few weeks of ownership he moaned that it liked the oil. I believe some of the petrol beemers e46s were partial to it aswell

I've got a cooper a 03 plate and it uses about a litre every 1000 miles.
Common issue on them, just keep an eye on it but nothing to worry about!
