Default BMW standard cd changers and copied cds issue

Ok so earlier a neighbour was chatting about his car and we got talking about head units and he said his standard boot cd changer does not play copied cds but saying that he's only tried one brand(Philips cd-rw). First thing I checked was that its burnt as an audio cd which it is........

So what else to try? Different brand cds? Maybe cd-r instead of a rw?

Any suggestions as he's abit pissed off as he just bought a pack of 20 Philips cd rw's.

Car is 2001 e46

EDIT. Yes it's not broken as it plays shop cds fine

its the rewritables.......... just change to cdr's and it will be fine.......as long as its done as an album rather than compressed with the whole collection.. i use tesco's finest but have even used pound shop ones in my 2001 e46.

neither my changer or head unit will play cd-rw's but are fine with cdr's, for the sake of a disc it's worth trying..

Did you haver to burn them as CDA files?

Cheaper than replacing the changer/player with MP3 capable type at least so good info.

Does the head unit display still work Ok with the CD-Rs?
