Default 550+BHP

Hi folks im new to the site an i suppose this subject been talked about loads times but im in process of rebuilding my YB and i want to run 550+ bhp. I have long studded 200 block std/std crank an 2wd std head. Can any of you suggest what comp ratio, headwork, cams etc i need to make above power? I will be building engine myself but obviously having work done elsewhere! Any advice would be kindly appreciated

Standard compression, pocketed pistons, grace engine developments can supply cams that he put in mine that were perfect for what your after

He can also do the head work as you will need the head worked, and balancing and machining ect

Airtec inlet plenum will finish it off nice

I wouldn't bother with a Garratt GT30 as it won't make that power, personally if i were buying new now i'd go with a Borg Warner unit but you're going to need deep pockets as it's not cheap to go for that power. What diff are you running?

The Supra diff to buy and have it rebuilt is going to cost £600 - the fitting kit was under £500 but i'm not sure what they are being made for now. Tremec box is a few thousand so before you've even started on the motor you over £3k then you'd need the hydraulic clutch conv so your looking more toward £4k with all your bit's in those departments.

The engine well you need to correctly long studded, all internal components balanced and some lightened if you choose - finding someone that knows the YB head to mod perfectly.

M.A.D would be the port of call for info regarding the turbo as they do different models

Your talking a lot of money which ever way you look at it

Thought sure a gt3076 will do 550hp? Sonicboom on here runs 590hp on a gt30? Going Borg warner is the way forward but it works out near £2000 and their reliability hasn't really been proven yet plus hard to get hold of.
I'd speak to Harvey Gibbs scs if I were u, he will be able to provide u with all the info and parts u will need for 550hp, just had my engine back from there top service and knowledge with yb's second to none.

reyland, scs, NMS, MAD - take your pick all will be able to help you with what you want. Personally I've used Reyland & NMS and been hugely impressed with both, but that's not to saay the others couldn't help either

So balance bottom end, ive had pistons pocketed already, does crank benefit from bein knife edged ? Std or hp oil pump ? Block as been faced and 10 long studs fitted. I'll get bottom end together an then get head and cams sorted

Yup mine makes 590 bhp on a GTX3076 with a .82 exhaust housing, if I had the money I'd go for BW 7060 Twin Scroll with a twin scroll manifold and dual external wastegates but you're looking at over 4 grand for that setup.

Why twin gates, when one works as well?

7060 £1500
manifold £1000
gate £500

ideally you need to be able to vent from both scrolls, hence the need for twin gates. You could link both scrolls and run 1 gate, it should provide good enough control providing the exhaust and waste pipe/dump pipe is designed well.
Personally i'd stick with the gtx3076 .82, readily available and will definatly do 550.

The GT3076 doesn't make 550, the two MAD cars that had the same turbo as me both made 500 - to get to that power your looking at a gtx series or GT35.

But it's not just about 550 you need to be able to drive it, your best speaking to a professional
