I have been a panel beater for 7 year since leaving school, so aint done any other job apart from that.

I fancy doing pumbing really, does anyone know of any evening class's around essex for this sort of job, or has anyone got any info on jobs that provide training.

Serious question though. Why do you not like panel bashing?

Boring?
Repetitive?
Long Hours?

Sure some of the plumbers on here (Tiff) will tell you its not that mich different. Or are you motivated by the stories in the paper which claim Plumbers, Sparkies and Chippies are earning £200K a year due to the skills shortage?

Not trying to put you off, but you need to be 100% commited to change career. And youve got to stick it for a long time, through the thick and thin. Otherwise you'll end up in 5 years asking the same question.

Imo change mate if your not happy. I was stuck in a job i hated. Went to uni and best thing i have ever done!!!! ok its a long process but u gotta see it through if thats what u want to do

Panel beating is the same as any other trade u will always have good day and bad day's but after 7 years i am bored shitless.

So how could it hurt to try my hands at some thing different

If you're going to change, why a Plumber? Does the thought of all those taps and fittings get you excited But really ask yourself why that. Why not something completely different like a journalist, a nurse or a accountant?

there is a 3 year waiting list to get enrolled on a college course round here, dunno what its like in essex, but no chance round here.

also i cannot afford to drop to apprentice wages, so thats out the window

and noone will take you on without experiance...

Dal a guy i know does plumbing with his old man and dont do gas either as hes got enough work on minor jobs and tbh he dont work that hard at it ( as in long hours) he starts ( ok leaves the house) at 930a, and is usually finished by 2pm, does about a grand a week hence why he aint vat registered

you off in the end dont it, ive had my break from it and ive got my
own building to do spraying in now, i may start on my own but
not to sure as of yet,

well bazz advertise on here and ya can use my car as a demo and then ya will get loads of trade

dals very very anal with body work i got told. maybe if he stoped doing it proper and learned how to do a few quick bodges here and there then he might feel like hes learning again

newspaper to fill holes and then pop rivit panels on and fill over instead of welding ect
