Default Fiesta RS turbo fuel pump not priming

Hi guys, parked my RS in the garage last week, gone to start it today and the fuel pump isnt priming and the car wont start:

NOW, this isnt the first time, but it is the first time it wont start completely, every once in 6 months i would go to a petrol station after a drive etc, and the pump wouldnt prime and the car wouldnt start, i would generally try and start the car by turning the ignition off 3 or 4 times and eventually it would prime and start......

I drove the car into the garage and it seems to have broke itself

I have checked:

The fuel pump connection by putting 12v to it and it fires up and the car runs
one of the relays is abit melted which im assuming is gunna be the fuel pump relay and will be the problem, question is does anyone know the location/colour of the fiesta RS turbo fuel pump relay?

Thanks lads!

Pull the relay out and see if you loose power down at the pump. If you do then that's your one. A melted relay could be down to excessive current draw due to poor wiring, corrosion in wiring plugs etc so I would consider using this as an opportunity to renew the wiring too as the last thing you want is a voltage drop at the pump!

Theres no power to the pump at all mate, i have checked via a multimeter, the only time it powers up is with a jump pack....

Hi mate I've just had a similar problem with my car,the pump relay is the yellow one its 40a I'm sure it's No. 11 in the board,it's next to the tall red one,my pump was pulsing with power and not priming like they do,it ran fine when I bridged the relay to try it? Have u tried doing this on yours?i bought a new pump, new ford relay and it was neither. It turned out to be the connection of the chip in the Ecu,the strap of tape had come off which holds it in as soon as I touched the chip and pressed it in the car started up and ran fine!hope this is some help I spent ages figuring this out, didn't make classic ford because of this

adam did you get it fixed?

the yellow relay is for the fuel pump the half melted one is probably a green one! this is a known fault with fiesta's especially mk3. this will stop the engine electric cooling fan working and can be really bad! (the check for this is no reversing light!)

If you pm me email your address I will send you wiring diagram and other info I have on it. If you ring I can take you through it fairly quickly! typing it all down is a bit slow!

in the end for me it was an intermittent fault on the connector to the fuel pump and another intermittent fault on the connector to the ignition switch! This combined with a immobilizer did make it rather difficult to trace! but I was determined to have her running again!

I also made up some special leads to eliminate some of the problems so I could deal with one bit at a time!
