Who said Scooby's dont make big power????
Yeah yeah I know wrong board, but since I am turning Jap and we are all Petrol Heads I thought this may be of interest to people.
One of the Scoobynet members has just managed 521bhp @ 23psi on a recent mapping session on pump fuel without NOS.
Due to some issues, the planned runs at 28psi on pump fuel and race fuel were not made...... but this is just around the corner apparently.
I now know of a good handful of Scoobies making big power that are entering TOTB this year, so after camps had been egged on by Andy Forest's 3rd place over all last year, this year should be a good event for the Scoobs.

I bet hes spent a fortune mate it needs different managment and loadsa other serious bit changing. A type r scooby will go to just over 300bhp with out proper stuff being done hence y people say they dont get much bhp outa um.Basically there very expensive to see real powerfigures

If you compare the price for a Cossie build to that power level running, running that boost without NOS I bet they are not worlds apart mate.
New management is not actually required for big bhp (it can be changed, but is not always required)..... as the scoobies OEM ECU is that good a newish facility called ECUTEK has been developed that enables the OEM ECU to be re-programmed via software...... not even a chip change is needed.
Granted.... it isnt going to be cheap, but hats off all the same.

From what i see scooby tuning has came a LONG way in the last few years.
500+bhp cars are now common.
Ive seen 2 different scoobys run 10sec 1/4s with my own eyes, and loads in the 11s these days.
TOTB3 was proof enough for anyone, some superb scooby performance there.
Being a boxer engine tho its still a total coooont to work on.
I like them a lot, good all-round package of a car, i know they common, but they look good, sound good, handle good, and have big performance potential.
But not one id want unless i could afford to let a tuner to 99% of the work as even changing the plugs is a knuckle scraping mission (yes, ive done it )
Can tell i like em but wouldnt want to personally work on them-- I own 6 different ones on GT4, pmsl

One of the well known tuners has already taken a JAP MY04 STi (very similar to mine) to 370bhp, with only an exhaust system, induction kit and ECUTEK remap on pump fuel plus octane booster. Which is about the safe limit with out doing anything else.

My best friend has an RB5 with a GEMs ecu, 550cc injectors, bigger interwarmer, gruppe S headers, and a magnex de-cat and exhaust.
390bhp on stanard internals for the last 2 years.
He has however, killed the clutch and brakes........

Shaun: not with STD internals though
Rich ... cossy internals can take a hell of a lot more power then scooby internals can take so there is your awnser as std cossy internals can run 500+

who on scooby net has the most powerful car proven then? are scooby's close to the 600 range yet??
and fagin - i notice you been posting loads more on here now than when you had the 500!!

you can run over 400bhp on standard internals. Yes they are not as strong as a cossie but still a lot stronger than people think, ive heard a lot of people saying 300bhp is the most u can get but like any engine if tuned properly u can achive a lot more.

Rene,
You must be right then....... you've all read it here, don't bother with touching a standard Cossie engine as it will give 500bhp with no internal mods what so ever!
You do realise that revelation has now just put all the tuners out of business!
Matt,
I dont know tbh, but the engine that achieved the figure stated above should be close to the 600 mark on full boost and different fuel.

CRD car for a start

Rene,
Yes I was running standard crank, rods but I dont know about standard pistons being able to take the abuse. As regards to the lower compression..... how the fook you gonna do that without changing something from non standard!
But I fully understand what your getting at...... just make sure next time you make the point about the compression ratio!

Std comp is 8:1, and std pistons is Mahles, the right fuel and the right turbo (using a RS500 T3/4 is pushing it, big boost n big backpressure, try a GT35 or GT30 with large ex housing) i can see it totally being possible bottomend wise, wither std head n cams can do it, is debateable, and dont think anyones tried yet.
Anyhow, who cares, this is a thread about Scoobies, and we not slagging them for once
