I seem to remember hearing this, wasn't it the really early 3drs that had a slightly different one and also the head was slightly different in the older 3drs aswell??

My genuine rs500 block cracked all the way down one side at around 370bhp. I honestly think its luck of the draw with the blocks as this was discussed a few years back and there were loads of people with falled 200 blocks aswell.

they are also stating failures in 200 blocks, It will annoy me more to spend the money and time getting a 200 block and it break then using a 205 block I all ready have

I can only give advice mate dont give a monkeys nuts if you take it.
Ive only cracked a 200 Block at 900+bhp & had 6 M.A.developments conversions over 500bhp but what would i know about modded Cossies .

For once I agree with Rod Why the hell would you base an engine build on a 205 block when a stronger block is available relatively cheaply ? The block is the core of the engine, economise elsewhere is my advice.

is the 200 block that much stronger than the 205 block? I remember this question being asked years ago and loads of people had failed 200 blocks as well as 205 block.

Is it a case of both have limitations but there is less chance of a 200 failing? What are the limitations of both blocks?

Yes exactly! There isn't any hard and fast rules as to the limits of each as some people seem to have better luck than others but you can't long stud a 205 block for a start. Its a bit like 4x4 gearboxes, years ago I ran one with 500hp for about 6 months and it was absolutely fine but when it failed I changed it and broke the replacement on the way home! After that I couldn't keep a std box in it for more than a week or so!

haha yeah I know about the long studding. I think that's why people are reluctant to spend the extra cause it does just seem luck of the draw regards to block failures.

If there was hard evidence that a 200 block could do 500bhp all day long but a 205 WILL fail at anything over 400bhp then I am sure everyone would buy a 200 block for a big power build.
