power loss at highish rpm ?
Hi,
My car has a strange on & off problem.
When you floor it, say in 5th, I get to about 4500rpm and the car seems to lose a lot of power, the boost is still there but it feels like its holding back for some reason. The car is a s2 erst by the way. The problem is not the metering head to turbo hose because thats a samco plus its got 3 large jubilee clips around it helping to keep the shape. The problem is on and off though, sometimes it will do it and sometimes it will fly !!
The only thing I thought of is the ecu retarding the ignition for some reason would you be able to feel the difference in power ? Why would it retard, no WOT fuel ? Anyone any ideas.....

I cant hear any det though Its also been set up recently as well. The problem is on and off though so if it was 'set up' related it would do it all the time.
What do people think about the TPS, could this be faulty / have a bad connection, so sometimes it would not register I was at full throttle and thus not supply enough fuel. Would this then retard the ignition so I lose power ?
any other ideas people ?

Checking the TPS - Found a post and instructions by GARETH T
resitance check from the tps with the multiplug disconnected
leads placed across terminal 1 &2 with the throttle closed 40-150 ohms
leads placed scross terminal 1 &2 with the throttle open (fully) 300-600 ohms
leads placed across terminal 2 &3 with the throttle closed 300-600 phms
leads placed across terminal 2 & 3 with the throttle open (fully) 40-150 phms
a better way to check is by measures the voltage back on pin 17 of the main ecu plug too the earth,,,
idle 5 volts
throttle fully open 0.5v

You can't hear DET. Not without headphones... It could be that when your charge temp is higher you're getting DET or something. A r/r session should find your problem.
any other ideas ?
