i dont know about other mk6 escorts but i know with the rs2000 you need the ecu, the immobiliser piece around the ignition barrel and the correct key for it to work if your buying a new set, im pretty sure all mk6 escorts had immobilisers as all the ones ive owned have ranging from 1995-1998 so i dont think a screwdriver will get you started but i think they have a different immobiliser setup to the rs2000 sorry that i cant be of much more help

Oh yeah mine was poss a mk5b and had a td engine with no immobiliser.
if the op still has other part of key he could tape it to the antenna for it immobiliser and use a screwdriver

aslong as the original key is close enough to the barrel or wherether the sensor is it will work with a screwdriver

ok if you are very careful you can put a dot of superglue on the piece of the key you have and mate the 2 sides together. now hold really still for at least 30 secs. then gently pull out the key. destroy key then get another one cut.

there are several other tricks you can do. I once drilled a small hole in the middle then super glued in some wire to pull a key out! also a braddle type object with the very very end bent to one side can be used to encourage it out too!

pm me if you are based near salford!

Dremmel is your friend! good luck

fords passive anti theft system consists of key reader[round the ignition barrel] immobiliser box [hidden behind the dash] u put the key in the ignition the box reads the chip in the key then disables the immobilisation
