YOUR ideal spec for a 500bhp YB?

How would you go about it?
What works? Doesn't work?
Things you'd avoid, things you couldn't do without etc?
Just interested to see how different people would go about it seeing as there must be 1000's of 500bhp cossies been built of the years (20+!!!)
Think it could be an interesting thread
Cheers Billy

std crank & rods
6 long studded 200 block, ideally linered if it's at .5
cp pistons (not mega low comp though!)
well worked head, 26/25 ports
double valve springs
WRC gasket
take tuner's advice on cams as its to their timing, but I'd probably expect a bd16
big gt30 ext gate on reyland modded 2 wd exh manifold, or one of the new gtx/bw series on a suitable manifold
management to suit tuner & their preference
at 500 hp its the supporting mods that cost too - fuel pump, breather system, the best i/c you can afford, gearbox & diff upgrade, rear beam, clutch & hydraulic conversion, ap brakes, etc.

200 block
6 long studs
MLS hg
CP Pistons
Std comp of 8:1
Bit of headwork
Hart inlet
MAD inlet cam, std exhaust cam
Twin scroll manifold
Smallest Borg Warner twin scroll available
Modern management
Would piss 500hp and 500lb/ft, and be very responsive
But you've probably just spent Ł10k+

Explain twin scroll... As I have no idea what that even means!

It divides up the exhaust gases in pairs of cylinders, and this gives better spool

Lovely and responsive fella but peaks at 5900rpm mine pulls from 3800 full boost and peaks power at 7-7.5 and drops fractionally at 8k so a massive power band
The t4 is old hat no denying and there are much better turbos I completely agree but there is nothing like a old school Yb in a 2wd saff I wouldn't change mine for the world!

I personally love T4 setups too, I'm with Jimbo on this, yes the BW i know are great, been in an Evo with one, but if i were going for 480-500+ I'd go T4 too, my money, my choice.
Plus i loved the 80s

very impressive, lets not forget aswell this dyno run is on dyno dynamics rollers so there will be even less lag in the real world.
imagine that engine on an engine dyno or dynapack that curve would be left even further !
very impressive result imo.

Strange all this T4 talk. Its totally outdated by whats out there now. Ive had them all so know whats what. The new Borgs are simply on a totally different planet. Mark has not done enough Cossies yet but his EVO specs are simply awesome using the Borgs. Of course a T4 works but so does a 1948 Morris Minor.

The design of the GT range is prob over 10years old with just a update on the comp wheel so hardly cutting edge today,
The BW EFR is about 3 years old now so current up to date tech and market leaders until someone else puts some effort in to it and hopes to improve.
