Default Has anyone fitted a Walbro?

Hi all, got a fuel pump problem as in the fuel pump is a lot taller than that of the standard one and therefore won't fit in the swirl pot correctly, the lid of the swirl pot also has a shoulder in the hole for the fuel pump which obvisouly now needs to be ground out because it is so much taller...

But anyway, has anyone ever fitted one of these or a deutsch werks or an aeromotive... and modified it to fit as i'm a little stuck.

This is for a ford focus mk1

Cheers

What power are you running? Does your new pump have a level sensor too?

The swirl pot has a fitting for the fuel level sender.. nothing on the bumb.. it's just your standard walbro GSS342. And the old pump was a std focus 1.8.

It really doesn't look that simple in my one.. I will post some pictures of all the bits i have tonight and see if you can shed any light, the answer is right there in my face, i'm just scared of chopping bits when it's part of a fuel system!

Could you use a standard RS pump? Not too sure if the tanks are different though.

The RS pump can be used but I'm trying to work with what I got at the moment. I seem to buy things and then sell them for the RS parts lol. Like I now have a full reconditioned and adapted rover turbo inlet and all the injectors for sale along with the loom and regulator just about to eBay it!

i fitted a da255 which from what iv read is similar to walbro. it was taller than standard and i had to do some modifying to get it to fit and work. biggest problem i had was not realising i needed special "in tank pipe" to replace the ford parts i could not use. i was shredding pipes in no time. look at my build thread and ive got pics of all i done. not sure if it will help you but take a look and see.
