HELP - FRST *Update - pics*
had a bit little bit of a miss on the turbo for ages now, but loads of people experience the same "kangarooing" occasionally so just learnt to live with it
yesterday was comin into my road and it died when i tried to pull away from the junction, picked up straight away and drove, thought nothing of it.
today just been to uni in it, seemed reasonably fine all the way there
on they way home it started missing, (when i say missing i dont mean dropping onto 2 or 3 it feels like its actually cutting out)
this gradually got worse and worse, as i got home, had to call into my dads works on the way it got that bad, missing whilst of part throttle, no boost or when pulling away from junctions, only way to avoid it seemed to be reving 3500-5500 rpm and it seemed fine.
got that bad near my house that it was coughing and spluttering and popping flames out the back
totally lost as whats wrong with it. any ideas? gonna leave it to cool down and check some bits or wiring etc, but its full to the brim with fuel and i need it for uni as the clutch on the runaround has given up the ghost
any help please

found it
CPS wire, got a 2i fan on the back of the rad, looks like when the engines moving forward, the wire is trapping on the fan between the fan and the startermotor and shorting out, just need to dig it out when its cooled and try and repair it
is this a likely cause????

Had a problem like this with my frst, the problem was though it was so intermitant that it never seemed to breakdown when it was on the rollers!! In the end (thanks to well lane!!) they identified that it was a wiring fault on the MAP sensor circiut. If what the other lads said above doesn't work, get a circuit tester and use the wiring diagram from ford or the haynes and tester all the links on that circuit. Mine ended up being some poxy inline resister/contact which is situated at the top right of the engine bay around the ecu. (It is a small black block with a 3 pin connector on it)- if you find it give it a wiggle when it's running if the problem seems to stop you need a new one. The part is not make by ford anymore, you'll have to scour the scrap yards!
Good luck hope this may help??

cheers for that mate, gonna repair this wire and try it,
theoretcially when the engine moves (i,e when setting off etc) its trapping it between the fan shroud and hte startermotor, causing it to short out
just rang msd and had a quick chat with kenny, he said its a possibility
needs repairing either way............
concequently this wouldnt have happened if deflex wouldve sent me my fucking enginemounts, cos mine are worn as and theres loads of movement
wankers

just got it off, what a pain cos of the fan
hope i can seal it up and repair it.... its part of the loom apparently
will have a bash later, then tie it up so its miles away from everything
can just see if u look through the shroud on the fan, the wires sticking out, was trapping between the fan and starter
