FORD TRANSIT 260 SWB Diesel Pump
Hi,Im not sure if this is the correct place to post .
I have a ford transit 2004 that is leaking from the diesel pump a garage has told me ,but they can't fix it and to take it to a diesels place that sorts this kind of problem .. Any way rang a number they gave me and told them and I've been quoted 900 to fit a new pump or a refurbished one etc . I'm not a mechanic so I've no clue about any of this .. If some pipes do not fit back on they tell me I will need new ones of these so will be more but they won't know until they start the job . So it could be looking at 1000+ for it to be fixed ..
The other option was £700 to do some repair to it . If it fails though later it will then end up costing the 1 quote + the £700 for the 1st repair ..
Seems a lot but is this normal for this kind of job ?

I had this on my 51 plate transit, turned out to be a fuel metering solinoid it is mounted on the front of the pump and cost around £300 from diesel jones, common fault if yours is fitted with the same pump.
what part of the pump is it leaking from,if its from between the injector pipes its a simple o ring once you remover the solenoid .mine leaked from their for ages but got a little worse over time so done the job myself .make sure if you do fix it at this location that you tighten the solenoid nut very very tight or it will drawa air and not start .i know this from expierience lol
