Volkswagen Passat 140ps Highline
Looking at buying an '08 plated Passat as per title chaps, 58k car.
Getting shot of a TDCi Mondeo which has the usual problems so don't want to jump from the frying pan into the fire and take on another car that are known to have 'issues'.
Anyone know anything or got an experiences ?
Thanks.

the 130 and 140ps engines are different i believe in many ways. not comparable in terms of engines, but dpf glogging is one issue around 100k+
injectors can fail and jam open/closed.
turbo's especially the veins can clog/egr etc.
good solid car and take well to a remap.
i have a bora 53plate 130pd and remapped goes like stick, handles like a barge though in the corners.

I own the exact model a 58 plate B6 Passat 140 Highline manual, they are awesome cars the best i've ever owned.
I got mine from the dealer 1 owner from new with 21,000 on the clock i'm now upto 46,000 the only things that have gone wrong is the electric handbrake button starting playing up which was changed under warranty and both front wheel bearings which were also chaneged under warranty.

as said above , mine was a family car from new ,
100 percent reliable , fsh ,
only thing wrong was a return spring on the handbrakes on its way out , and a lec window door mechanisim chewed its cable , but there getting replaced ,
its now lowered on 18s and corners well , due a remap shortly as the respond really well to them personally the only reason i would ever consider selling mine is for a mk 1 frs

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Also got an 04 Highline Estate, the B5.5 shape with the 1.9 PD TDI lump. Love it.
Not been tempted by the B6 due to the reliability issues on them, for that generation I'd rather have a Mondeo !
You on UKPassats Beef ?

It's only my first real day of owning it but I got 47mpg on the way to work this morning (town driving) and I used to get 40mpg with my previous Passat.
The CC has this start/stop thing which takes some getting used to but must pay off in traffic.
And the CC is only Ł105 Road tax per year the previous one was Ł170 a year
The same engine in the newer 2013 model is Ł30 a year the Blue Motion is definatley worth having. Which is amazing for a 2.0 Litre 140PS diesel engine.
Can't wait to get it on a run when I got to Wales in a couple of weeks.
