Default Anyone on here got a bike powered car?

Ive just went and got myself a R1 powered mini. Is there anyone else on here that has a bike powered car? Im looking to find someone with a bit of knowledge on such cars and to find a UK forum to get some pointers and advice on engine mods to get the most out of the car.

I helped build one yrs ago we build a zxr fiat 126, bit of a drama fabricating the cradle to fit the engine but it helped that the car was already mid engined, I bet that sounds awsome, was it home built or garage built

Not entirely sure mate tbh but its not Zcars or alike if thats what you mean, I only picked it up on saturday and have still to get it on the ramp and go over it top to tail. Its put together really well with all the correct bits and is running front engine RWD with a Granada back end. Heres the car.

It has the early R1 150bhp carb model engine and I want to get the most out of it but not spend silly money doing it or I would be cheaper just selling the engine and putting a Hayabusa in. Also with it being prop driven I have an issue with fitting a reverse gear as they are usually fitted next to the cog. Great fun as it is but with a few minor changes and tweaks it will be a real weapon.

Mini looks nice

Try www.locostbuilders.co.uk for info on the R1 engine, loads of people on there have them in various kit cars.

I've got a Mac#1 Worx kit car with turbo ZX10R engine, that gives a decent bit of performance.

My car is front engined with the diff driven by a propshaft, same as yours, my reverse gear is mounted on one of the diff output shafts and driven by a starter motor

I've also got a Flatshifter Expert gear shift kit fitted, it allows clutchless up shift and clutchless downshifts with a blip of throttle between changes, it's fantastic!

Not my car but you can see the flatshifter in action here

Cheers bud I will join the forum I was looking at flatshift kits before I even got the car as I knew they are a must plus they sound nuts! Since posting this thread ive found AB Performance and they have a good priced reverse starter for Sierra diffs. Is this the one you have? they look similar in the pics.

Mine's a Freelander rear diff.

I bought the reverse setup directly from Mac#1 Motorsports' I think it uses a Ford Transit starter motor.

I can really recommend the Flatshifter, it's pricey but works so well.

Edited to add, AB Performance have a brilliant reputation.
