Default Broadband, what a complete chore it is...

Well, let's start afesh

Originally signed up with Tiscali for a 1mb 30GB usegae per month, 3 weeks later, no emails, phone calls - nothing!

Rang them up only to be told, sorry can only supply 256kb connection on your phoneline - that was cancelled immediately - pointless!!

Then went to BT and signed up for the new 2mb 30GB useage per month, well, got router etc etc in post on Thursday - GREAT!

Connected it all up, ADSL light kept flashing, ok says can be untill 8pm that say to be connected

9pm came, rang em said all was ok and defo connected and no faults showing

Friday monring, had static ADSL light

Now, 'cos PC is upsatirs, used extension lead for phoneline, ADSL light flashes

Ah well, thought it gone tits up

Connected it all up downstairs, ADSL light still flashing

Go out Friday about noon, it had a static light b4 we went, but too late to connect

Get home yesterday, ADSL still friggin' flashing

Anyone else had problems with shitty boradband - beginning to think it's all a farce to be honest

Been with NTL cable now for over 2 1/2years. Other than them switching the modem off every 2/3months for 30 mins to change the IP address i've been quite happy with them and 37.99 for 3 meg broadband i don't think is that bad even though it is capped.

You sure it ain't the cables that are coming out of the wall???? They in good knick?

you shouldnt use an extension line with adsl

also you may be too far away from your exchange to get a decent broadband signal.

its not the distance from the exchange but the length of the cable between you and the exchange

How many adsl filters are you using ??

There should only be ONE inline with the line from the main socket !!!!

James

You have 2 lines at your house?

Didnt you say that 1 of them can have ADSL and the other cant?

Is the router configured correctly?

Have you spoken to BT tech support?

RTFM that came with the router.

Im with BT and have been since July last year and had no issues at all.

Could be that an engineer NEEDS to come round and check your line state.

After all Tiscali said they could only offer you 256k... maybe with your line thats all BT can offer you reliably.

Adrian, have done
Doing an investigation thingy
Was suppsoed to ring back within 48 hours - yeah righto will they

Router, literally has an ADSL line that plugs into microfilter, and the microfilter plugs into phone socket

Havn't done anything else to it

Piece of useless crap! Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't

Haven't had it working long enough to connect to net PMSL

BT will call back.

If not, use the online help system. That always works.

I use a really old shitty bit of extension to to connect to my pc, and its got the ropiest lil junction box where all the wires are strugglin to stay in and this doesnt effect my connection in the slightest!! The only time it drops is when my dog lies down next to the phone socket downstairs and leans on it!! This causes one of the connections to be loose!!

james, i dont think ur microfilter is supposed to be in the actual phone socket!!, mine is upstairs(built into the extention cable thing) then that goes into the phone socket.

James you need a filter in EACH socket that has a phone(or other equipement) plugged into it! not just a filter for your adsl modem.

Also have you got a house alarm and is it connected to the phone lines? ours is for constant alarm monitoring. If you do this needs to be filtered also.

BTW i changed from "phone line" broadband to a dedicated "cable" broadband because i was having constant disconnection issues. In the 2 yrs we had problems it never got fixed 100%

Now im on blueyonder cable 1mb broadband and is great no problems at all now
