Default Can you get a pf09 TPS repaired?

I've got a nearly new pf09 tps, black not red, and off the car or on the throttle but not bolted down tight, it works perfectly. As soon as I do the bolts up tight enough to stop it moving, it goes to full throttle! (Read on an iaw monitor)
If I slacken the nuts off its fine, but I can't leave it like that.
Can I get it repaired?
Or should I shorten the spindle that comes off the throttle by a couple of mm incase that's pushing in too far?

If I put the old red one back on ican do it up tight and it works perfectly.

Any ideas?

I thought you had to swap some wiring if it was different sensors? I'm guessing as you do it up tight it grounds something it shouldn't.

Could be something else I'm thinking though....

It's not that it's working the opposite way.
If you use a pf01 on a 4x4 you need to swap the wires and if you use a pf09 on a 2wd loom you need to swap the wires.
That's not my problem. What's happening to me is I guess like you say it's grounding out when it's done up tight.
If I fit it loosely or fit my old tps it works fine.

can you post a pic of it both on and off the throttle body?
cheeky trick to check about grounding is to roughly cut our a piece of cardboard and use the cardboard as a TEMPORARY spacer as it is NON conductive then test the unit when held tight against the throttle body you can also wrap screw / bolt in PTFE tape to check for grounding. The cardboard especially if layered can be used to check the effect of shortening the spindle to so tell you if you are on the right track!

good luck!

Not quite, it's if you use a PF09 on a 2WD car WITH a L8 ECU, you can't use a PF01 on a 4x4

Does the one you are having trouble with have metal bits around the mounting holes that might be being earthed?

Easiest way to be sure would be to un-bolt the throttle so that it's got no chance of being earthed and try it then.

Or, have the sensor not mounted and earth the metal bits and then see if it works OK then.

Good idea, will space it with cardboard.

Yes there's metal bits around the screw holes but they're not being earthed as the throttle body is not on the car, I'm setting it up in my hand before fitting it.

It's only as its tightened so it can't move, if its quite tight but loose enough to adjust its fine

Well I spaced the "new" tps off by about 4mm with a couple of foam pads and it made no difference.
Refitted the old one tight, and it works perfectly. It rises nice and smoothly and I read the throttle angle at every degree. It's at -0.30 closed and goes up to 83 so is working fine. I guess I will just have to stick with the old one unless anyone knows somewhere to repair the "new" one?
