wheel dealers and mk1 escort about to start ...

But we know all that Dojj. It's still good entertainment and is REAL. I just found it highly ammusing that someone who watches what you do would pick up on the falseness of another programme

I enjoyed the episode and seemed like a lovely motor when they finished with it. Looks like you got a cracker there mate. For everyone moaning about the show don't watch it if you think it's shit. I hate eastenders and do you know what I do. I don't watch it easy problem solved.

Definitely want to show it, especially when the new engine is done! Guys on here seem a good bunch. Overall comments are positive. If the doubters see the car in the flesh, they will see how clean she is. I had her up on the ramp before buying and couldn't believe it, especially after the ones i've had!
wanna swap lmao

Ive watched WD for a while and always thought there was a bit of bullshit regarding buying, selling and what does actually get done to the car. Like when they show it all cleaned up towards the end I've spotted things like brand new calipers and discs through the alloys, that never got mentioned throughout the show!
However, I like to learn a bit if I can, about various cars, their values and the popular mods that people can do!
It's like anything on telly, it has to be taken with a pinch of salt!

They always try to sell privately... the production crew are really decent folk. The camera crew have worked on car shows for > 20 years. The guy who was driving the truck is a mk1 fanatic, he went to see the car before Mike. He also worked flat out finishing her off. I asked if I could have copies of the bills and they sent me everything! A lot was spent that was not shown as they like to show a profit! At the end of the day, a nice mk 1 has been saved and the World has seen how cool these cars are!

Large pinch required but every car that leaves their studio is 100% sorted. They can't afford any mishaps re insurance.

Its the same everytime on here when wheeler dealers is on, esp with a ford, loads of people slate it to death, I don't know why they bother watching it.
As said, pinch of salt and its a lot better than some of the garbage on tv.
The mk1 looked really well, hope to see it at some shows this year.

Only joking, mine has been welded in places, but its solid now.
Look forward to seeing this sub £2k Escort tho, could be shocking

mike is a bell end but thats his tv character. theres no doubt edd is a handy mechanic with a decent engineering knowledge and i have no doubt the cars they finish are done to a very good std. the escort would be perfect with some nicer wheels ie rs 2000 4 spokes. the diff feature was informative and highlights the knowledge of either edd or the technical team behind the scenes. i watch it religously despite the flaws, its a laugh

Point I am making is that the final figure achieved for the MKI is not far off what they worth yet so many people saying "how much ?"
What I felt the programme was not helpful on though was the costs published at the end of the show.
Even the owner Max has stated the paint job was £3500 and not £1850 as shown on the show
Yes I know it is only a TV show but it is aired on a "factual channel" and is a "how to" programme the least it should be is a truthful representation

Well, i enjoyed the show.
you have to remember it's a TV show though.
And seeing the heritage centre brought back memorys for me, I did my apprenticeship at Ford Motor Co when the training centre was in dagenham and as we were employed by Ford themselves, we were always allowed in to have a nose, my favourites at the time were the silver Mk1 XR2 that had 127 miles on the clock, and the last 3 door cossie off the line.

I said to my brother about the new bushes, as at the end of the show when there out driving it, it does a close up shot of the rear and you can see red leaf spring bushes and new u-clamps etc, but like you say its tv and I like watching it, good luck with the car and get a thread up in the resto section with some pics of the engine build etc.

A member of another forum put it in the for sale section. I pm d him straight away, the following day the Producer called me and told me all about the car and what been done to her. I viewed her and loved what they had done. They do not cut any corners at all. I know it is a lot of money but it is 100% straight and honest.

Fair play, that mk1 looks great. You can smell the bullshit on WD, like when they roll up to the tat yard for a wing, just so happen to find a mint one for £30..... Complete with a brand new sticker on the underside and fresh paint outside lol
I always take WD with a pinch of salt, but as said, they do it all spot on.
