Default Cossie and turbo engine info

Forgive my intrusion onto this site but it was recommended to me by a friend as a great source of information.
I am currently in the middle of a project and it has reached the stage where I must now choose an engine. I have narrowed it down(?) to either a 1.6 RS turbo or a 2.0 escort cosworth engine. I do however need a few details before I can proceed.
Please remember that this is my project and only I will suffer because of my ignorance. All I ask is that you try and answer the questions as fully as possible with as little ridicule as possible. Many thanks.
1/ Is there such a thing as a FWD Escort Cosworth engine and gearbox?
2/ What is the weight of both engines inc gearbox?
3/ Are both engines transverse style engines?
4/ What are the dimensions of the engines inc gearbox?
5/ What length are the driveshafts avaliable in?

1 no
2 engine about 140 kilos 2wd box 65 Kg, 4x4 80 Kg
3 CVH yes YB no, although you could turn it 90 degrees if space allowed and you could find a STRONG box, RS turbo rebuilt box will take standard YB power but not much more
4 can get them later for you, block is just Pinto if that helps
5 standrad length so you would prob need one offs making if going in a FWD application

from your first post you make it sound like you want a transverse YB on a RST gearbox, now you are saying you want a longitudally mounted motor

Which way do you want to fit the motor? and what gearbox are you using?

From your first response it was ascertained that I would probably not have the room to have the YB transversely mounted. Also the limitations placed on tuning it because of the box were unexpected. This has meant that I have had to rethink the project. I still wish to proceed with the YB but would rather have 4x4 than rwd (personal pref.......boring but there you go!)

Maybe I should explain myself a little more. I trying to fit a 2.0 engine into an engine bay similar in size to that of a fiesta. I may have the opportunity of using an escort or sierra cosworth as a donor vehicle.
Now I know very little about the spec of Ford engines and am hoping that the members of this website can help.
I would have prefered to have gone the FWD route but very much doubt that there is room to have the cosworth engine running tranversely and also the constraints of the gear box steer me away from this option.
I am not a great lover of RWD but if this option is the only one left to me then I will certainly explore it.
This, currently, leaves me exploring the 4x4 option. At the moment I wish to know what I would need to take from the donor vehicle.
Sorry for any confusion. Your ideas and suggestions are welcome. Thank you for your time and expertise.

Cossy Abuser...........sorry to mess you about. I hope I have explained myself better this time.

You will need extensive modifications to the floor pan then, unless the car was RWD before, you will need a tunnel welding to accomodate the massive 4x4 gearbox and transfere box and the prop. The shell will also require some major strengthening, none of this can be done until you have a motor and box to offer up fro measurements and modifications to the shell.
I would get these out of the donor vehicle before you even think of anything else

Sorry! Wasn't actually asking how it needed to be done. Am well aware that it is a very involved job. I wont be carrying out the work on my own. I am not that niave. Was just after an idea of what was involved and what suggestions you had. I am very "hands-on" and like to get stuck. I dont wanna just turn this project over to someone.
If this offends you in any way I shall leave you all be!

However if someone could please post some pics of the floor pan it would be most appreciated.
