What's the procedure for exchanging/getting refunded a car battery? It's 16 months into the 4 year gaurantee.

Yeah.

You just go there with the batt and receipt, and they test it then give you a new one.

Thanks for the quick reply.

Took both the battery and receipt in. The guy put a meter on it, said it was within there criteria, whatever that is (wouldn't show me the meter reading), said he wanted it for 24hours to charge (as it was flat and wouldn't turn the car over - it's gone flat twice) and then would consider whether to change it or nor.

Does that sound right? He wouldn't exchange it nor allow a refund.

My local store are wankers, its always 'got a damaged cell' from over charging, but you go into the next store up the road and they swap it fine, even without receipt!

From having worked there before it all depends on who you speak to and how you come across.

If I have someone come into me with a possible battery warranty and the battery is flat it can't be tested so I always say (its our company policy)
that I need to charge the battery for at least 12 hrs and test it then. If the battery is faulty we replace it, if it's still within spec the customer gets the battery back.

I don't work for Halfords btw, but an independant motor factors.

Counter retard tested it and said its fine must be the car, cue heated discussion lol, I got nowhere with said retard.
Went to store down the road and they exchanged it no questions asked, as that is the fookin warranty after all!! there words
Popped it onto the car and fook me it started first time, go figure

as above, you have to test it fully charged, no point going any where near it with a drop tester if it isn't. Did he test each cell with a hydrometer? It is pretty easy to work out weather a battery is fooked or not, mostly it is down to misuse, I've only seen a faulty battery a small hand full of times!
