Default zetec blacktop/silvertop miss match rods and pistons ?????

I have just been offered some cheap steel rods and pistons.
Part number je rods p/n185915.
Eagle rods 5483-f.
My problem is my engine is a silvertop and i think the pistons and rods are from a blacktop.
Does anyone know if you can miss match the rods ie will the blacktop rods fit my silvertop ???
Also does anyone know by these part numbers if they are definately for a blacktop ???
Any help would be appreciated.

You can use rods and pistons designed for a Black Top in a Silver Top block - they use the same crank and same bore size. You can't mix and match Silver Top rods/pistons with Black Top rods/pistons though, so as long as they keep together they will fit.

Have to work out the CR though, but should be fine.

The only thing I'd be slightly concerneed about is the comp ratio being a little high.

JE Pistons 185915-1 - Sport Compact - Individual Pistons
Oversized 0.18mm
Rod 139.2mm
Skirt Type Full Round
Stroke 88mm
Bore 85mm
C/D 29.75mm
Comp Ratio 9.0:1
Dome CC -6.9
Gram Weight 299
Head CC 48

That's good to know I've got an st170 engine I want to build into a zetec turbo with a blacktop head. I've been offered a set of pistons and rods that would give a 9.0.1 compression on a silvertop. Any idea what compression they would give with my block and head ?

whats the point in using a st170 engine.....your swapping out all the bits that make it a st 170. sell the engine and buy just a blacktop and fit the rods pistons your getting. the diff in price od engines will pay half of the rods/pistons.

Extremely low mileage lump which was free so why not use it.
Or the other option for a temporary zetec turbo will be run a black head and 1.8 mm head gasket.
Just curious as to when I get to the stage where I want more will they fit.
