If your driving style is shifting around 4000rpm, using mostly that powerband and you are building an 500bhp engine then you should tell this to your tuner. There are many ways you can build and map a 500bhp engine.. With todays good turbos spool should not be that much an issue.. My 2 cents

the op should rename the thread "why do people build laggy 500 bhp engines?"

times have moved on, the stuff is out there to build that power of engine without it being much more laggy than t34

They are a good strong turbo fella, i love the T series blowers, yes i'm a dinosaur,

After all the fun on this thread i've said it MANY times.

I think my best cossie was 12 years ago on a T34.48, greys and a NMS live map, loved it

You are wrong about them but the last time I tried to show how much better they were I got a infraction,
You can have 600hp and responce of a T34 and better gear change responce,
You would need to go in one to see the diff,
I am doing a 480hp twin scroll YB now but I wont be able to post on here but it will be on the Escort cosworth one.

I have used more EFR turbos in the UK than anyone else and they are the best by far but you do need to put them on a manifold so it is not a cheap upgrade but deff worth every penny.

Two rules in life (well three really)

1) You don't need more horsepower than you can use on the road
2) You don't need tits bigger than a handful
3) 15 will get you 20

The link pipe needs mayjor mods so the effort is better spent on a new manifold and its a winner alround.

No its to tall and the exhaust housing hits the head just like the Twin scroll one, I tried raising the elbow by spacing it and gave up after 15mm as it wasnt getting any clearance with the head.

some very interesting points on the thread.. so what would happen if a 500bhp saff cosworth was on the street and it happened to come accross a 400bhp t34.48 saff at 2bar side by side at 40mph..both floor it at same time? what would happen ? Here is another interesting point.. my mates 390bhp saff was a little quicker than hes mate cossie....but this wasnt enough he gave it in and got 517bhp about 6 months later.. they went to collect it and on the day he told me it was quick but laggy.. he then raced it against the same cossie and got dusted..not only that..he got dusted at every traffic lights, every roundabout, every straight.. he recalled that every time they came to a straight he started to pull him in but couldnt get past the t34 cossie ..after spending all the cash, time and effort he finally said the truth and said hes old t34 390bhp set up was quicker.. he said if he raced the new set up against the old set up the old setup was quicker.. its like having a massive t4 turbo what good is it if a average cossie running a small turbo would dust you? yes on the motorway it maybe a different story BUT racing on the motorway doesnt happen often so why spec a car to race people on motorway lol

lets put it this way..imagine if RSMAT [t34.48 36psi] came accross a t4 powered 450bhp monster.. on dual carriageways and roundabouts..who would you have your money on? id have mine on rs mats car thats because hes car would boost and be gone.. by the time the t4 comes on boost MATS car will be in the roundbout ALREADY on boost and gone again ..where as the t4 would be NA
