Been playing up all day. Lack of power, it's jerking and holding back under load - ten times worse if trying to drive up a hill, even a slight one. At one point I could barely get it over 30mph going up a hill!
Did it this morn, then later on it was fine, then started doing it again this afternoon.
Did it last week too, but has been fine since.
60plate, no idea what lump is in it, TDCI something or other.
It feels strangled - Can't tell if it's fuel or air, but whatever it is, it ain't happy!

Sounds like an EGR valve fault to me, I've come across loads of Transits with the same symptoms and usually that's the cause.
As a temporary repair I either tap the valve with a hammer (with the ignition on but without the engine running) and then disconnect the multiplug. That normally sorts it out so it's drivable again. If that doesn't work, I slacken the 2 bolts that attach the metal pipe to the valve and cut a strip of metal out of a coke can about the same width as the bolts are apart and slip it down between the valve and the pipe blocking it off then retighten the bolts. Dead easy.
The above is ok if it's a front wheel drive, if it's a rear wheel drive, then it's a pain in the Harris to get to.

Its at the front of the engine.Follow the pipe from the intercooler on the osf to the.You can take them off and remove the clips and clean the insides out. They have plastic gears inside which wear.Ford to modified metal gears to replace the plaggy ones.
For the price of a fuel filter i would defo change that first.

If you look to the right of the dipstick on the pic you can see a grey multiplug, that's the connection for the EGR valve.
Try leaving the ignition on but without the engine running, twat the EGR valve with a hammer (not too hard!

Well, I've discovered it only plays up when it's got a full tank, or at least a lot of fuel in. When I run it down to empty, the last half of the tank it's much better; the last quarter it's perfect. Fill it up again though, and it runs like a bag of shite - stuttering and hesitating under load, especially uphill (even slight hills). Maybe a blocked breather, and when it has a full tank it creates a vacuum/airlock?
