If you're feeling dangerous, attach a breaker bar and socket to the bolt, rest it against something solid and turn the key

Oh... everyone else may wabt to stand back.

impact driver type gun will get it off, you will need some sort of shock machinery to do the trick though

Surely you don't want it too hot, be mindful of the crank seal. Paul

engine could be one without woodruff key make sure you put the pin in the block and lock the engine before you slacken it should come off with a decent impact air gun

Forget all that
Remove no1 plug and make sure the engine is at bottom dead centre
Fill the bore with string
Undo the bolt
The string will stop the engine turning over and all you need to do is tie the engine to a lamp post or a tree or something with a ratchet strap to stop it from moving

I did the wifes focus 1.6 16v timing belt i couldnt get the bottom crank shaft bolt out.I had to smash the bottom timing belt cover off to do the belt. The car is a 53reg.

I did the wifes old mk5 1.25 16v V reg timing belt ages ago when she had it and the pulley bolt came out a piece of piss.
