Default Foucs wont start ...

Drop 300 miles yesterday with no problem , got in this morning and it just turns over. The pump is not priming and there is no fuel to the rail ....

Dame thing need it for work Monday , ive checked fuses and relay all good ?????

Which Focus do you have?

Fuel pump may have died.

Check the electrical pin on top of your fuel sender/pump.

My mam n dad had a 51reg 1.6 16v focus that did this.Dropped the tank down and found the pin corroed and snapped off.

My focus Rs mk 1 has just had exact same problems !!!
Plug on top of fuel pump was melted ,and pump fooked!!


I believe the pumps pack up , they draw toomuch current and melt the plug and pump !!!

My dads 53 plate done this last week , drove off went for a walk ,no start
I checked it all out first Make sure fuel cut of switch drivers Kick panel has,nt been triggered
Hs pump had died as it was a 2 door exhaust and tank had to be dropped nightmare
4 door can be done from inside car !

What's your ecu light doing whilst turning it over?

Seen 4+ like this now where the coil goes and blows the coil side of the ecu

Some times its been a pig to start , no other lights on while cranking , 4 door no port hole in the floor will drop the tank 2m .....

My old mk1 focus had similar issues, fuel pump knackered!

Did you check your immobiliser light whist cranking?

If you can put a current meter in circuit you can see what is going on. my walbro escort cosworth in-tank pump draws 4.7 amps.

you can get these meters from Maplin for Ł10.

if the immobiliser has cut in it won't crank at all so i don't think it will be that. Get someone to give the bottom of the tank a good hard thump while turning it over.

Defo fuel pump
Ecu cuts crank sensor also when detects fuel pump fault
So no fuel no crack signal
Just done my dads

There is a red light above the radio this is on while cranking , it flashes when the central locking has been set. Will check to see if there is any power to the pump when cranking later.

Were in the footwell is the switch n/s or o/s ?

Drivers kick panel to your right little blanking plug over it.
