Default ZT Focus, Which ECU?

Hi guys and girls, got a ZT focus project on the go and wondering what the easiest route of installing an ecu is.. to use a piggy back dastek with boost control or to use megasquirt with a new loom.

Side notes: using rover red band injectors, running 15psi and wideband lambda

Cheers,
Rob

Try boostmonkeys, rob might be able to do an ofam to plug into your existing loom

Ofam? Is that anything to do with the fiesta management? Another side note is I will be using standard ford focus coil pack

i'd say go with what your tuner suggests.
i have a megasquirt unit for sale, will connect right up to the engine.
however since the focus uses CAN, then your dash won't work as it needs feedback from ecu.
nothing wrong with a standard focus coil pack, that's what i was using with my high power zetec turbo, although i was going to run COP's.

Oh right, megasquirt seems a good option but really want the standard dash. I though ms had an output to connect up to the rpm and speedometer aswell as signalling coolant temps?
Piggy back is seeming a little easier at the moment but I want tuneability. I'm only aiming for 300bhp from a 2l turbo.

megasquirt has rpm out signal, i was thinking that the whole dash was connected through CANbus and require loads of signals from the ecu, i don't think OFAM could do this either.
it's only a case of throwing a new dash together really.
piggy back is probably easier, i'll sell my ecu and loom to anybody, i just don't think it's the best for connect-ability in your case.
300bhp isn't big power, most ecu's can get max power, it's the bits below that that need to be mapped well to make it a nice drive.

you can still use the standard dash mate, im using megasquirt ecu..
what you want to do it use the original crank sensor wire and piggy back your megasquirt on onto it, then you have the rev counter still working and also your megasquirt ecu can run too

Yeah I'd also go with a http://boostmonkeys.co.uk ECU, if you need a tuner then either myself of Rob at Boost Monkeys can help with that too.
