Im going to be looking into a rev limiter for the mk1 fiesta when its built. And ive also been asked about fitting one a saxo VTR, also with a single coil, but ECU controlled rev limiter at 6200.
Ok, so ive looked into fitting one on the mk1, i get the grasp of that.
Ive also looked into fitting one on the saxo, no problem with that (as long as i set the limiter below the 6200 standard)
My question is, are there any alternatives, as the omex seems a little steep at £100 for a rev limiter. I dont doubt they are good pieces of kit, but i would kick myslef if there was a £30 alternative.
Also, has anyone used one and what do they think?
This is what im looking at.

Used one before on a cvh and it was a good piece of kit. I only paid £60 for mine off ebay but mine had the launch control option on it too, so was a bargain really.

The launch control is fully adustable to like 10k rpm if you wanted just like the rev limiter itself. Its a push button so you can fit it wherever you want. Essentially you could swap it for a flick switch or whatever you fancied.
The whole unit has 4 wires iirc
Coil +
Coil -
and two separate Earths
took minutes to wire in

Just thought id pop my pennies worth in, with regards to simple, engine saving rev limiters, not launch control or shift.lights etc, ive had a rev limiting rotor arm in.my xflow.for.years and its bang on, mines set at 6k and they cost less than £10 posted from.h&h ignition.

Ok, it really is simple.
You set your rev limit - this is your general rev limit, lets say 6500rpm, and saved in your module. You have two options, soft-cut and hard-cut.
You set your launch control limit - this is saved in the module
To use LC:
You hold the button, apply the accelerator. The module will then hold the car at the pre-set LC rpm, lets say 5000rpm. It will only release this limit when you release the button.
Picture the scenario:
Your holding your launch control button and throttle buried, the car is banging and popping at 5000rpm, the lights go green you launch and when you feel the car has picked up you let go of the button. You then accelerate to 6500 where your rev limiter kicks in, you then change gear and carry on.
