Default cross flow info

hi im changing the engine in my mk1 fiesta from a 957cc to a 1600 cross flow ive got the chance in buying one from a mk1 escort will it fit in as ive read on the net there mixed responce about it fitting can anyone help me out with some info many thanks

No, is the short answer. The escort ones are longer and won't mount transverse.

You need a 1600 block from an xr2.

771m cast into the block.

thanks for the help is the xr2 engine the same size or is it a little sorter?

although its called a crossflow still, its actually a completely different engine chap.

the engine ive been offered is a 711 block if that helps

711 is the block to have... if you have a RWD car. its later block out and has thicker walls which is good if your boring it. but it siomply wont fit in your car as said.

you do need the fiesta crossflow. which is probably rarer.

Ive heard of a few people managing to fit 711 blocks in mk1 fiestas , although it would probably be easier to find a 771 block from a fiesta . Check www.fiesta-mk1.co.uk for more mk1 fiesta information.The rwd and front wheels drive blocks share are very similar, but the rwd engine is slighly longer due to a bigger timing chain cover from what i remember.

ok mate thanks for the info bit gutted now was really hoping to fit it was'nt to worryied about making mounts as im a welder and know a bloke who does machineing, its not easy getting hld of an xr2 engine been looking then this came up just have to go another route now
