I checked the fuses they seem fine but I'm not sure which one is actually for the wiper stalk controls? It's doing my head in not having my mpg ect and the wrong time won't let me set the right time

usually you need to drive it so that they reset. and the clock usually updates itself. take it for a drive and see mate few miles. im a tech for vw.

I agree wit this suggestion. Some time the new things need some time to set in a running condition so i think you should run the car few miles and then it will be working fine. If not then you should check the wiring because it can also be a reason for that problem.

Taking an assumption that all modern cars are the same, there is usually a module that does all of this. Nothing else hasn't suddenly stopped working has it that was working before? Do the wipers work?

Check any stray earths around the battery area, I had this before on a mk4 gti 2.0 l but I lost all clocks, dash lights etc yet the car started and ran fine. Towed it back to the workshop and found a few earths had come off (iirc they go to a block below the battery tray). Cleaned some connectors up and renewed the eyelets and she was great. It had been crash damaged and this was after the lad had removed the battery to pull the leg hence I`m wondering if its the same thing.
