Motherboard drivers help!
if you have a PC infront of you, that needs formatting, but the persons got no disks for motherboard or sound drivers ect, how do you find out what drivers you need for the motherboard and sound ect ect, and where to get them from?

Take the side of the case off and look at the Part number/Model number of the main board.
Either go to google which should then tell you manufacturer or go directly to maker if it says on main board.
I would do this before you format machine is easier,

Is there no way that you can type something into the 'run' bit or something to get the info up? surely it must be on the PC somewhere!!!?
The PC is not at my house and I'm going round to format it soon but he doens't have ANYTHING with it, so gotta get motherboard drivers and he knows nothing...

normally you can on the motherboards website.
it'll probably be a VIA chipset or an nForce chipset and most of the driver packages are "all in 1" affairs
and DONT put winME back on it!!!!!! use either win98SE or Win2k/XP avoid winME like the plague!

yes ballin, but if youre on broadband thru RJ45 and you didnt download your network card drivers beforehand you'll struggle to get online to get them
and yes ive made that mistake a few times

It's all fixed now, as I got it back to my house, and looking through, all the drivers were assigned to microsoft anyways, and it all worked once formatted
