Default Mk7 Fiesta Zetec S Petrol Vs Diesel

Hi All

Looking to get a new car pretty set on it being a Fiest Mk7 ZS but unsure as weather to look for a Petrol or Diesel. I do about 18miles to work and back 5 out of 7 each week mainly national speed limits. Im leaning towards to petrol but as anyone got advice of difference in performance day to day etc.

All help appreciated.

You'd be better off sticking to the petrol model mate, especially if you 'round trip' commute is only 18 miles per day 5 days a week.

you wont be doing enought miles per year to cancel out the higher cost of diesel over petrol with the diesel MPG return.

If your doing relatively low mileage, then you will store up issues with a diesel, such as problems with the DPF if your not 'giving it a good run'

I think the Diesel model is also more expensive to buy over the petrol model as well?.

Well its done.

Pick up my 60 plate frozen white petrol ZS on Thursday. Had a Lexus IS200 for the last year until me and some ice and a disagreement 2 week ago. Quite impressed just as quick as the Lex quite happy to be back in a Ford.

What are these going for as the missus want's to change her 57 Clio 1.5DCi and really fancies the Econetic as she worries about emission and tax costs.

Takes 5 miles to warm up a diesel before you see any gains

BUT .... £20 a year to tax a diesel where as the petrol is £66 for 6 months

The diesel is very slightly dearer to insure over the petrol

Ive got a petrol and it's a good car, good handling, cheap to run and quite nippy, and loads of tuning bits out there if that's your thing

It's personal preference, I prefer petrol's

Decent spec on most of them. Bluetooth with voice control, USB for iPod/iPhone, Quickclear heated windscreen, Keyless entry, reverse parking sensors. Nice wee cars!
