Default Ford Fiesta (2008) And Dpf Query

Hi,

My Focus was smashed into recently so am looking at alternatives since it is likely written off. Budget is a bit limited, and would like something with low emissions (to save on road tax and parking, anything below 120g/CO2 gets a very big discount).

Was looking at the KAs but don't think I can really fit into one that well (am tall). The salesman recommended a diesel Fiesta, June 2008 1.4 TDCi Zetec Blue 5dr. It has a good price with a very good deal, however I am concerned about the DPF and if I do enough to miles to not get issues.

I have a 15 min drive across dual carriageways split by many roundabouts each way to work daily, and usually do 2 half hour each way motorway trips a week (so 2 hours total). Am I setting myself up for issues, I can't even seem to find a definitive answer on whether it has a DPF although given its low emissions (119g) I suspect it does. Or am I worrying over nothing? Have never had a diesel before, whilst I wasn't able to test this yet (will do next weekend) I was given something similar to get a feel for it and it was good.

Appreciate any advice, many thanks.

No the 2008 does not have the dreaded dpf. They came in about 2010 I think. Why dont you go for the 1.6 tdci its better and it may surprise you.Only £20 year road tax as well.

Really are you sure? The guy at another ford dealer I just got back from said he thought he had. No one seems to know. 1.6 is a bit out of my price range

Guys one more question, do you have to drive diesels differently? With the dpf I get you need the longer journeys to clear it, but for non dpf models, do you need to treat them differently?

A non dbf you drive just like a petrol no difference at all.The dpf ones yes once in a while it needs a blast up the motor way so the exhaust can get hot enough to burn off all the built up crap.My non dpf will be three years old next month and has never missed a heart beat yet.
