Started a job the other week with a JCB Back Hoe:

But then it got serious so when ended up using a JCB 16 Tonne 360 as we had to go 4 metres down:

A 360 is so much easier to use than a Back Hoe plus you have have to drive the Back Hoe on the roads and when you're limited to 40mph and not allow on motorways it can take the piss getting to jobs far away.

I assume there's not much swing from side to side on the back hoe either.
360 is an awesome machine.

Do you work for yourself or company? what are you doing there ( pics ) exactly?

Still on the look out for a mini digger.

back hoe is 180 degree swing, 360 degree is full circle.

As said above a Back Hoe is 180 degrees of swing and a 360 is well 360.

I work for Severn Trent Water doing R&M so plenty of burst mains like the one above this one was especially deep as the original owner of the field used it as a land fill site which he promptly went to prison for so now a main which should only be about 1.5 metres deep was getting on for 4 metres deep.

We mainly use 360's as they are much easier to use and much more maneuverable we have 1.8 tonners and 2.5 tonners in the yard which we can tow out with our 7.5 ton DAF's.

If the road we digging out is abit on the thick stroke hard side we'll use the Back Hoe as it has a very effective pecker.
When a excavation gets deep anything beond 2 to 2.5 metres deep we'll hire in a larger 360, WHC are really good and can have one to pretty much anywhere in our area in 2-3 hours.

We also have used rubber ducks in the past for large diameter main work in the road.

Did you ever get a shot at the diggers OP?

Just remembered this thread when the young guy at work asked for a shot of my digger
