I have done 38k in mine in a year & a half, still think its a wicked car. A few niggly fault areas are both engine & EGR thermostats can fail making the car run cold, heater blower resistors burn out leaving the interior fan on all the time, and swirl flaps in the autos fall into the engine writing them off. Autoboxes can fail writing the car off, check it goes through the gears well & does not hang onto a gear for too long.

Don't be afraid of high miles as long as the car has been serviced well (IMHO) as that's what they are designed to do, I'm on 178k now and going strong. Parts are expensive if you go to BMW, but there are plenty of excellent pattern parts around, and they are very well put together so easy to work on.

It is a big heavy car, cheap Tyres are a no no and can ruin a great chassis, mine runs on P zero rossos that are about £100 a corner, very sensitive to tyre pressures as well.

I do 500 miles minimum a week in mine & I can't think of anything else (bar a 535d) that in the real world I would rarther have, 39.7 mpg average doing 90/100mph a lot of the time.

Epic cars

Yes they can take a remap. If the engine is in a shit state to start with, then it wouldnt be advisable to remap.
