Default USB vs firewire?

Whats the difference between USB and firewire cables? Is one faster than the other?

Any help appreciated

no its not unless you're using old usb1

I think USB2.0 is 480MB/s, firewire is 400MB/s

Speed no.s aren't the full story......Firewire requires no controller and is peer to peer, USB requires a controller - controllers have overheads....

From what I can gather you can charge your iPOD using the firewire lead aswell.

Can you confirm this?

you can charge your ipod if you use the 6 pin firewire port yes not if use the small 4 ppin one tho

i use firewire to rip video of my vid cam, usb is too slow and drops frames, firewire doesnt
