gearbox earth strap ?

Default gearbox earth strap ?
fooking about fitting a replacement digital speed sensor on my 2000 escort i noticed an earth strap hanging about, it's bolted to the gearbox but ive got no idea where or what to fix it too, i assume the gearbox has been out at some point and this was missed when it was reassembled

If it's an earth strap, then just anywhere that's bare metal? Preferably on the chassis leg or similar.
