Car tax laws, Re: SORN and getting to an MOT station!!
will be booking the car in to its MOT at the end of the month but this came up in conversation last night....
You are ok driving without an MOT if its booked into an MOT station and you are driving to that appointment....
but obvioulsy you need an MOT to be able to tax the car...
SO...
if you are driving to an MOT appointment and the car is still on SORN, but you are obviously on the way to get an MOT so that you can then re-tax the car.....is this classed as OK?!?!
I know i maybe able to get access to a car trailer, but not everyone can do this....so is there a law stating that you can drive to an MOT without it?!?!
(I can't be arsed to drag through the DVLA website at the moment...its too damm early )

Keith.
I just had exactly the same dilema as you on saturday just gone. I called the DVLA and they said i could drive the car to a pre-booked MOT, but then i must go straight home and not my drive my cossie to the post office to get tax, and that someone else should do it for me or walk to the post office.
