Sounds a bit ott, but then I presume to do it properly its going to be spot welded on and blended fully into both rear quarters and inside boot and rear floor so a lot of work to do it right, glad I do most my own work as its not easy finding someone to put the time and attention that we perfectionists require.
Fook paying that I'd say 600 tops days work in a body
Shop old off new on seam sealer wet on wet primer paint and out
The door I use do that type thing for living
Take longer than a day mate to do it properly I do this for a living lol
lol I'm not taking ur back street garage , big body shop with everything to do job properly iv changed a back panel
In a day but not arguing just giving my advise on price , I did it for a living aswell so know what
I'm taking about
i got one done on my rs turbo (which granted ain't a 3 door) but to fab up round rust, fit panel and paint was £400 so I think they's taking the michelle
For me £500,probably less for cash but bodywork is cheap in south Wales due to a general lack of cash.
Probably £12000000 in Aberdeen!!!
I'm going about 4/5hrs panel work,2 hours paint/prep,1 hour to refit/odds&sods.
8x£40=£360,sealer,clips,paint etc £80 & vat about £5-550.
Where the fuck did they get £1200 from???
Just taking the piss cos its an expensive classic car.
i own a body shop/ garage i do the welding my partner does the painting i would quote about £500 to do that it would be done in two days i could fit that panel and any remidial work around it in about 3 hours id say
I think about 600 , don't forget that you need to paint inside ,the underside and in to the 1/4 panels !!! Try and make sure it gets spot welded not mig.
Its quite a big job but thats just crazy, as you say, sounds as if they were just trying to price themselves out of the job as they didn't want to do it.
Took me a day to remove the back panel on my car but I have no experiance of this type of work so if you knew what you were doing and adding paint etc I'd say 2 days to do it right.
I'd expect to pay around 600 quid i reckon. Personally wouldn't worry about timescale too much, i'd rather wait a little longer and know it was right rather than it being rushed to get it out of the door.
